To start with I'm garbage with computers. However, I have been trying to add videos or music to my powerpoint for the past few hours with zero success. I have no win.rar on my computer which could be a problem, but would like to know if there is an easy way of doing this.

winrar?

That's probably completely unrelated (unless you want to unpack audio and video files).

The easiest way to click on the multimedia icon on the PowerPoint page and follow the steps. Video can be tricky because PowerPoint doesn't embed large files and the player doesn't play the video correctly unless you have the computer settings all done up properly.

Go to some torrent site and download the Lynda.com tutorial -- that'll give you everything you need. Barring that, download the pdf from: http://www.palomar.edu/atrc/Training/PDF/AVinPPT.pdf and read it over.

Also, and this is something that I always tell my students, when using audio or video make sure that you save it in the same folder as your presentation -- video isn't embedded, but linked. And if you put the presentation on another computer the link will be meaningless unless the video is in the same folder.

Are you using PowerPoint 2007 or 2003?
