c'mon you guys have to be kidding. Even with beauty being in eye of beholder.. if Biel's body is an 8... what's a 9? show me please.
and her face is actually what started making her famous even before the body.
I remember seeing her on that 7th Heaven show as I was flipping thru the channels and as a young girl, I remember thinking - God, she is gorgeous! (I think her hair was dark on that show, and I prefer brunettes)
now as she's blossomed into womanhood, she's at the height of her "superpowers" Some pictures are better than others, but Christ.. let's be fair here.
I'd say 9 on body, if not higher (depending on what one rates a 10, or whether you give out 10's to anyone) and face is 8.5, 9 as well, and I say that even preferring brunettes and an "Adriana lima" look.
fair to say that Jessica might get a 9 or 10, even from the "East German" judge |

ha, good catch.
when SHE was a young(er) girl.
when I was watching her, even when she was a young girl
in my next life, I wouldn't mind being a young girl though. That'd be something, to be a young hottie, nothing else like it. Empires have fallen, and thousands upon thousands of men have died because of them.
the problem is then they get old |

| Bogey, on your own bell curve the ladies in the OP are on the right side of the curve. Depending on the sample so far to the right as to be on a straight line. No matter how much you want to believe they are the standard, you are wrong. Biel's boy is sculpted by professionals, as slender as some asian body types might be (ectomorph tendencies) they don't look like that. Now you're just being willfully obtuse. |
well I don't want to get into semantics.. but maybe we'll just agree to disagree.
or maybe you just hang around too many of the negative standard deviation people.
one of the gals commented on my avatar,, that people in FLorida put up signs like that for the Midwestern walruses that hit their beaches.
She has a legitimate point. The Midwest is an overage substantially fatter than the coasts... and warm weather states tend to have somewhat less fat people than the interior/cold states.
I worked the door for one of the hottest clubs in the city for a couple of years, and I can tell you that each and every night, I would let in a throng of women who could easily compete with many of these "stars" in a swimsuit. Granted, those were "the beautiful" people.
but it all depends on your perspective.
what you see as "average" on the streets of North America will be considered morbidly obese dogmeat on the streets of Madrid, anywhere in South America... not to mention the streets of Moscow or St. Petersburg.
it will be laughed at on the streets of Quebec too! The streets of Quebec are much different from the streets of Toronto.
then there are all those Chinese who though porking up, have a LONG way to go.
so - it just depends on from what angle you are coming from. |
Do you actually read your own posts before putting them up?
If your club was truly super fancy, then you weren't attracting average people. What city was the club in? Miami? South Beach? Those people were probably models or model wannabes. Don't you understand that they are the EXCEPTiON? Your analysis works if you pick one hundred people out of the wait line for the hottest club in Miama, but not if you pick one hundred people out of Miami, or the country at large.
This isn't an agree to disagree situation. You are wrong, fella, accept it and move on. You live in an idealized world that doesn't exist, and more power to you. If I could I'd join you.
Additionally, its rather funny for someone pulling out statistical jargon to defend their position to then turn around and say "it depends on perspective."
Maybe you're one of those pretty, but not too smart people. Thank your lucky stars if you are, as your life is probably easier than the rest of ours. |

nope, not Miami, not NYC, not LA.
and granted they were not representative of the "general population" but they weren't celebrities or models either (well, actually some were models, but most were not)
actually I'd say I'm smart, not pretty
what I will say is your world perspective and or view is VERY limited (based on what you are saying)
mine is not. Walking the streets of Manhattan is not walking the streets of Milwaukee.
It's clear to me you haven't been around the world much and your "view" is based on what you have seen around you growing up - if you grew up in an Arkansas trailer park with Bill Clinton and think Paula Jones and Gennifer Flowers were "hot", well .. what else can I say?
but if you have ever walked the streets of Paris, the streets of Quebec, or the streets of Caracas, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires or Moscow or Prague or St. Petersburg, you'd learn there were milllions and millions of people out there who you didn't really believe existed..
and they're not especially "hot" compared to others around them. But to you, they'd be 2 standard deviations above what you are used to.
this even holds true walking around uni areas around Seoul.
Will you be honest enough and say that the average ranking of the average woman in Seoul is probablya good 2 pts above your usual North American scale? (and this also depends WHERE in North America, as noted?)
if you come from an Arkansas trailer park and that's what has shaped your understanding of "normal" and "typical" then I understand.
Just don't expect me to share your understanding. Mine is different. |

Regarding Ms. Biel, if we're giving out half points I'm willing to give her an 8.5 on the body. The reason I wouldn't give her higher is that she looks just a tiny bit flabby in most pictures. Reason she doesn't score higher on looks is that her features are a little severe and she has tiny bit of "Cruella de Vil" nose.
To me they have to be really toned to be a 9 or 10 body. A couple examples:

is that kournikova on the bottom one? I prefer Ms. Biel, but viva la diference.
the toned aspect is also a matter of personal preference. Personally I do not like "overtoned" women. To me, women look far far better with just a little fat on them. It's one thing to say J-Lo or Beyonce aren't "toned". A lot harder with Biel.
but Biel may be more "toned" than her Hollywood competitors. She's also more muscular, athletic and broad shouldered than many others.
once again, personal preference.
what's not "toned" exactly?

What is the matter with Kournikovna in that picture? She's rich; how come she's got nobody to play 'twister' with?
Who is she trying to appeal to here? Crab-people?
For christ's sakes, woman, stand up! or sit down! |

Out of that list I guess I'd pick Scarlett Johansson but Monica Bellucci leaves all of them standing. Nothing like that perfect hourglass figure.

This is it for me, so respond if you like, but I think its ridiculolus that since I notice that not all, or even most, women look like the models and actresses featured in this thread that I have a 'limited' worldview.
mine is not. Walking the streets of Manhattan is not walking the streets of Milwaukee.
It's clear to me you haven't been around the world much and your "view" is based on what you have seen around you growing up - if you grew up in an Arkansas trailer park with Bill Clinton and think Paula Jones and Gennifer Flowers were "hot", well .. what else can I say

The only big US city I've lived in is Chicago, and in certain areas there is a derth of hotties, in others an excess. For the most part the hotties are outnumbered by the average. That's why they're called average. I've lived in Prague and St. Petersburg, and for the most part the same is true there as in Chicago, and though I thought Prague was full of pretty people I have a soft spot of Eastern European women so I'm biased.
and they're not especially "hot" compared to others around them. But to you, they'd be 2 standard deviations above what you are us
'Hot' is a relative term, yes, but far less relative than 'smart' or 'witty.' The world at large has a fairly standard definition for attractive, and it is set by magazines and catwalks. My personal standard is just wider than that.
ed to.this even holds true walking around uni areas around Seoul.
Will you be honest enough and say that the average ranking of the average woman in Seoul is probablya good 2 pts above your usual North American scale? (and this also depends WHERE in North America, as noted?)
If you prefer Asian women, then yes, you're right. But you're overgeneralizing and if not aware of that then there's not much point to this conversation.
if you come from an Arkansas trailer park and that's what has shaped your understanding of "normal" and "typical" then I understand.
No, I'm from Iowa. Though I've been to Appalachia, and there are lookers and lookawayers there just like everywhere else. Ever been to Iowa City? It is an anomaly, as when school is in session the ration is 51-55% women to men, as such even moderately attractive women up their game to stay competitive. As a moderately attractive man I've enjoyed this to no end. It's an exception though, not the rule.
Just don't expect me to share your understanding. Mine is different.
Like I said, it must be nice in your world, but don't think its the one the rest of us live in. |
I reiterate again, hooray for chubbers. Hooray for girls with big noses and curly hair. Hooray for variety. Most of all hooray for personality. |
