Does anyone know where I could get a region free DVD player over here? I'd like to watch some of my movies on my TV instead of my laptop...
Thanks! |

Why don't you buy a monitor output cable so you can hook your OC up to your TV an watch movies that way? It's cheaper than a DVD player.
I got my region free DVD player in the big electronics building in Yongsan (where cameras etc. are sold) But I haven't used it since I got the PC to TV cable. |

Youngsan Electronics Market Sun-in building (Yongsan station area), or Techno-Mart on the green line at Gangbyeon station. |

Buy any DVD player, then google the model number along with "region hack", or something similar, and you can make your player region free yourself. |

Sony players are very difficult to crack. Not recommended for the faint of heart.
LG's are super easy to make region-free, though:
1. Power on.
2. Open the tray.
3. Press menu.
4. Click on "lock".
5. Press '0' on the remote six or seven times. Click OK and you're done.
I've changed three LG players (different models) like this. |

Those hacks really work? So I'll be able to watch my Region 1 DVDs on a Region 3 player I buy over here? |

I bought a region-free DVD player in Yongsan (not in the station but the other side). It's quite small and even has a USB input on the front that works great. It has an English remote and language input. Think I paid W80,000. Pao View's the brand, I believe. |

cangel,
Can you watch movies that are on a USB memory stick via the USB port? Or is it just for viewing photos? |

I have a Samsung I bought here, and I hacked it myself. I couldn't find the exact model number (the American market is a bit different) but I tried the nearest-looking one, and succeeded!
No need to pay a premium for "region-free." |

Is there any way to make that dawana site in English?
Is Pao a big name brand? My korean is really limited, if not non-existent, and I'd like to have an idea of what to say or look for at Techno Mart...will there be a sign or label saying region free? |

Usually you can google about any model number, along with the words "region code hack" and get a site or three that will tell you the hack.
I've unlocked two of my players -- my Oppo and a Magnavox I brought from home. Oh, and I had chinese "Silady" brand model that was region-free to begin with. |
