I have always found it ironcially amusing that those who profess their love for jesu and purport to know and live by his teachings sin just as often as those of us who don't believe in Jesus.

If one were to be logical, (I know, I know, we are talking about bible thumpers Rolling Eyes ) you would assume that Jesus would be more pissed at someon who knew his teachings and didn't follow them than at someone who never heard of or believed his teachings to begin with. Wink

That has got to be the most convoluted bit of "logic" I've ever read. Any Christian that claims they are lesser sinners than a non-Christian totally misses the point. I will say this though: I don't believe Jesus gives a royal flying farck what you did in this life to "earn" your way to heaven, or hell for that matter. I believe he looks at what you believe in your heart about Him and then the die is cast. But I don't make the decision, God does and I don't claim to know the mind of God.

But he isn't and that's the paradox. The Republicans have always prided themselves on being the Christian party (of late). Which is totally opposite this time around. I would say that Obama has a much more deeper spirituality than McCain.

No, I know there are lot of Christians who are liberal. Just more people who are atheists are liberal, right?

Yes, I believe you're right.

So what?

This election is essentially finished barring any incredible gaffes by the two candidates.

The media is going to focus on swing voters for 4 months. People swinging between Obama and McCain are by and large soft-headed, especially the ones in states that we can call right now.

Since you have no visions for us, who will you be voting for?

Therefore ... in the thread title, you actually typed liberal but you were actually meaning to say atheist?

Wow, that's deep.

Convoluted? You will have to give me the exact definition of the word in this case.

I'll go with the most common definition of the word and argue that there is nothing convoluted whatsoever with what I said. In fact it is pretty simple and straightforward.

Quote:
And the woman said to the serpent, We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.

Quote:
To the woman He said:
I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception;
In pain you shall bring forth children;
Your desire shall be for your husband,
And he shall rule over you.

Seems to me that god really doesn't like it when you do something he expressly tells you not to.

Do you think god would have punished some Joe Smoe who happened across the tree and unknowingly ate a piece of fruit? Wink

If this logic is too convoluted for you, I apologize. Wink

On a side note. It has been a while since I read the bible. Even within those few passages about Adam and Eve I was totally disgusted.
So here are two completely innocent people frolicking away the a garden of Eden. They happen across a vile and trecherous snake (which god put there Wink ) and the innocent woman is tempted into eating a piece of fruit. Now god had said no but the snake gave here a pretty convincing argument as to why it would be ok to eat it. Now, after Eve has demonstrated a little bit of reasoning and free will, God is royally pissed. She gets to spend the rest of eternity giving birth in pain ( I can only assume that god originally meant it to be painless but this is her punishment ) and she is to be lorded over by man/her husband from now on. Adam, on the other hand, now gets to spend the rest of eternity slaving under the hot sun. But wait! It's not only those two particular individuals who recieve this punishment but the whole god damned human race! Sheesh. Now I understand why you worship him. Rolling Eyes
