I've been able to locate tiny Tetra pak boxes of Danish Feta (yuck) and small jars of feta in oil (yum/$$$$$$$$).
Anyone know where I can find big ol' hunks of water packed, Bulgarian or Greek Feta?
While you are at it, how about really good bulk olives in brine?
Cheers! |

Costco in Daegu has feta in ..... I think oil. Maybe water. Who knows..... I believe it's Italian... maybe Greek... definitely European looking.
Wow, I'm super helpful. |

jeez, ya live in Korea for years without feta at all and they finally start bringing it in on a regular basis to stores and what happens? People start complaining, "It isn't my prefered brand." |

Sorry to get your panties in a wad but if I don't ask I may not find what I really want. If I am not clear on what I have found and what I prefer I may not find what I want. These differences are not about a brand but more about point of origion and packaging which makes a big difference in feta and many other cheeses.
You may have been here for years but I just arrived and am looking to establish what is available to me and what is not...yet. It is also interesting to me as food and nutrition are my trade. |

Thanks for the reply. I bought some of that at Costco and it was really tasty. I wonder about the "vegetable oil" they use but in small quantity on salads and such it is damned fine! Unfortunatly the small jar is const prohibitive. I bought 2 jars last Monday and would burned through one already. I assumed that that product was Greek but upon further investigation I found it is Danish feta.
This means two things:
1. You CAN polish a turd and make Danish feta taste/feel good.
2. The Danes to not allow for artificial trans-fats in their foods so the oil may not be so bad. What they export may be different but since the oil is liquid, even when chilled, it's more likely to be ok. The nutrient panel is in Korean. I need to translate that stuff.
Cheers! |

I believe Hannam Market in Itaewon has it. Take the 420 bus to Hannam Vocational School, walk right towards the Volvo building, and it's in the basement. There's a big yellow sign for the shop. There's also a deli in there and a handy little shop. |
