check this site. i LOVE Cambodia. my boyfriend I spent most of our time relaxing in Siem Riep. stayed at golden banana B and B. good location, quiet local street, near river and main shops. lush swimming pool and free breakfast, cute little bungalows. SR is so relaxed, of course lots of tourists but everyone seems very down to earth. spent time relaxing at the Bodhi tree garden cafe, walking round the riverside, lots of cheap massage and good food at the local market. of course the temples are amazing! devote minimum of 3 days so you can go slow.

the S21 museum in PP is a must see, chilling place. stayed at the hotel across the road from it and was impressed. very cute room, good food in garden. also go to friends cafe in PP. great food and support fantastic cause. i'll definately return, it's an amazing country. have fun Very Happy

Make friends with one of the scooter boys and tell him you'd like to go to a wedding. Of course, you're gonna have to give a present of money to the bride and groom for going. After ask to visit a family and check out how they live. You should give some money to them too - like 5 or 10 bucks.

*cringe* I suppose you could do that, since there aren't any real zoos to speak of.

.

Thanks for that deadman. That's what I did and I had a great time. The scooter boys were the ones who suggested it.

So your saying that going to weddings and visiting people are disgusting but visiting the same old places that millions of people have been to is not.

There are many types of travellers out there. Some are happy to follow their little guide book and run around the beaten path. Others like to do other things.

So you... didn't go to Angkor wat? Shame.

As for the other experiences - I'm all for going with the flow, following whatever whims or opportunities arise, and that's how I'm sure your family experience arose.

However, I do think giving some random moto driver 5 or 10 bucks and saying "Show me some poor people", as you seemed to advise, is pretty disgusting actually!

Reading about it, then paying to experience it yourself, seems more guide-booky than off-the-beaten-path.

Anyway, I was being an a-hole, so

was a fair comment.

$610 round trip?

I've been looking to go to Cambodia on my way home in September, and the cheapest i've found is around $750 one way? Am i looking in the wrong places?

What is a reasonable price for a ticket to Cambodia?

And where are you finding these rates?

Last I went from Thailand to Cambodia, I had a hoot and it was very cheap. I stayed in Sihanoukville at a very inexpensive hotel, indeed. It was really nice, though. I just can't recall the name but it was one of the only hotels around there with a pool. It also had a casino. The pool was visable from the main street afront it. The hotel was across the street from the beach on the opposite side of that main street. Nice big room with all the hotel room amenities for about $20. a night.

Does anybody know the name of this place? And, do you know if it's still that cool to stay there?

I'm thinking retrekking from Pattaya to Sihanoukville on that cross boarder bus trip... any advice on that will be rewarded with great fortune with the opposite sex this summer...

peace Cool
