you downloaded a movie, right?
how was it packaged? did it come in a folder? a .zip file? a .rar file? or just by itself as a movie file?
if it's zip or rar, you need to unpack it (altools.com)
if it's in a folder, or a movie file, just double click it.
if it won't play, because the media player mentions a codec problem, try using a different player such as divx, vlc, gom, etc.
do me a favour, tell me what the file extension is that you downloaded.

Thing is, how do I find out what file extension it is? Whatever I downloaded on bit torrent just comes up at the name I gave it. Should I not have changed the name? I pretty much just googled ratatouille torrent (it is totally not for me, the kids made me...), clicked on the first result, and clicked on the button that said download now. I'm clearly missing something, right?
And again, my plea for changing my comp to English remains. Anyone?????? |

That is exactly what I thought, and I've tried on limewire in the past, on my home computer, but it's never worked. I thought maybe limewire was the problem and I had to use something else? This movie I may or actually may not have downloaded (Im kind of past guessing) is on my school comp, through bit torrent. |

Are you 100% sure it has finished downloading?
Does it say 100% in the utorrent window/
if so right click on the file in utorrent and say open folder.
right click on it again and check properties.
How large is the file? A movie is normally around 800mb or so |

ok. this ought to be easy. find the file you downloaded. as mrsquirrel said, make sure that utorrent said 100% downloaded.
the file name should have a period and 3 letter extension after it. eg.
ratatouille.zip
ratatouille.rar
ratatouille.mov
ratatouille.avi
... whatever it is, there will be something after the period. tell us what it is, and we can give you more direct answers.
btw ... sometimes torrents download inside a folder ... so you have to open the folder and look at the file(s) inside. the folder has no extension, but the files inside do. that the bit we need to know. |

^ or it may not show if Explorer isn't set to show file extensions.
And with it being in Korean that will be a sod to explain how to change. |

actually, that's no problem at all!! haha
open a folder and go to tools (도구) (t)
go to options (폴더옵션) (o)
choose the 2nd tab at the top (보기)
UNCHECK the 7th check box from the bottom ... 알려진 파일 형식의 파일 확장명 숨기기
that will show up your file extensions. CHECK it to hide your file extensions.

lol ... i had considered this, but was too polite to actually ask!
finding out the extension would have answered that question anyways. |

Okay first things first if you have xp you can not make your whole computer english. you can make programmes install in english. Did you change the unicode language as I suggested in my second/third post.
I suggest re-downloading your movie, here is one that should work fine
http://www.mininova.org/tor/945435 click the download button and then click open (if you hit save then you will have to open the .torrent file)
(mininova and pirate bay tend be be quite good just pick torrents with a large number of seeds (s). Another torrent site I like is rlslog.net (they are all rar files))
Once downloaded right click it and click open containing folder. Then double click the avi file
Have you installed vlc player, if so then
Once downloaded right click it and click open containing folder. Then double click the avi file, it should play |

Ok so I'm back at home and I can't check until tomorrow, but since I can't fathom why the above would be strange / wrong / ridic then it is altogether possible that's exactly what I've done. Can you tell me why that's different and why that wouldn't work? It's not rude in the slightest, since I've really no idea what you mean... |

the torrent file is a small file that tells your torrent program what to download.
It's not the actualy movie. |

| It would only be rude because it could be assumed to be insulting your intelligence. But if you're a complete noob to this stuff it's perfectly understandable. |

| if the "movie" downloaded in less than seconds then you downloaded the .torrent file. If utorrent opened and it took between 10 min and 3-4 hours to download then you have the movie |

| I think the OP has just downloaded the torrent file. If this is correct, you're only halfway done. You need to download uTorrent and then open the torrent file with the uTorrent application. Then, your movie will start to download. |

I have totally made inroads.
I had downloaded the actual movie
I have managed to open it on my windows media player
However
When it starts to play, it's like the kaleidoscope screen you get when you play music on an xbox or something. I can hear the movie just fine. How can I change this?! |
