I know about air asia, JetStar and valuair.

If anyone has flown on these before any insight would be appreciated.

Also, the names of any other similar airlines in the region would also be appreciated.

Thanks

Air Aisa is pretty good, I took it from BKK to Phuket last year. Their fleet is pretty new and service is good, but no free snacks. It was a short flight, so no big deal. They do have a menu you can buy from at reasonable rates.

Some of them will go as far as HK or Taipei, but no further. You can find flight to HK for cheap and then fly a leg from HK to KL on Air Asia and potentially save 250,000 won. But that requires some luck.

Just noticed that this is in the buy/sell forum, when I was in the travel forum when I clicked to post...

very strange. Maybe a MOD can move it (back?) to where it belongs?

Too bad they don't have flights departing from Incheon. Ugghh, so sick of the ridiculously overpriced plane tickets here. Crying or Very sad

Air Asia's been putting up their prices, and they're charging for checked luggage - due to oil I guess.

I flew from Phuket to Kuala Lumpur and it was around $150 up from the $90 it had been the week before. I flew one way because it was a visa run. I wasn't sure how long it'd take to process the visa, so I wasn't sure when I could get back. The return flight ended up around $200. It was the start of school holidays in Malaysia when I flew out, but still the prices were all over the place.

Tiger Air out of Singapore is a good cheap airline. They used to do $99 flights to Darwin.

There's a fairly new one based in Thailand called 1-2 Go, the planes were Cambodian Airlines, then became a UN fleet for transporting refugees, and now 1-2 Go have them. They are staring off doing Thai domestic flights and they want to expand through Asia from there. Apparently the planes are awful, and unsafe... but tickets are cheap.

There is also Jeju airlines if you want to fly to Jeju. They are quite cheap (100$ return approx).

I've flown Air Asia many times in Thailand, and from Thailand to Cambodia. They are a cheap, no frills service. They are often delayed, and they won't often tell you if the are running late or not until your flight time.

Air Asia also flies from Kuala Lumphur to Brisbane, Australia.
