some of my favorite korean rock bands are cocore, the plastic day, the mustangs, oriental lucy and sagitta. some of them have myspace pages that you can check out and they often play around hongdae. |

i've been wondering about rock music in korea too. are there any particular cities that have a good local band scene with regular live gigs. i love watching unknown bands in a small intermate venue with a good atmosphere. |

There is supposed to be a metal festival or something like that next weekend at Club Sapiens 7 in Hongdae. 6/28

I'm not promoting it. Don't contact me about it if you have any questions. |

There's a band called Windy City and they do salsa-ish music. Sung in Korean. |

There's a whole eighties style underground punk scene that evolves around Skunk Hell in Hongdae. For more information contact RACE TRAITOR. Once a year they have an Oi festival for this punk bands from Japan and Korea play together. |

I like Pink Elephant. They're all pretty young, but sound great!!
Check out Club Ff in Hongdae, loads of Korean bands play there, both at the weekends, and during the week. |

I'll second that one!
Check out Hongdai's Club Night/Sound Day - did they join these two together? They used to be on different nights but now I think it's just the last Friday of every month.
There's quite a few rock clubs that partake in this. Pay one cover charge for all the clubs (15,000W)
Honik Uni. Stn - #2 line. The posters and fliers are hard to miss. They'll be around the station/park/club areas and will have the line-ups and probably a map of where the clubs are. If you're struggling from there, just ask a local waeg. |

On a slightly related note, has anyone been to strangefruit in Hongdae? It doesn't have live music per se, but I hear their jukebox/DJ is pretty good. I've looked for it a few times but it's eluding me. |

I've seen them a few times now and they've always been extremely entertaining and fun. The little fanboys that flock to the shows seem completely smitten, as well. |
