|
|
So one of the reasons I am coming to Korea is because of being able to travel to nearby countries. I have heard there it is difficult if not impossible to enter some places from Korea (parts of China?) I don't know if this is a myth or not, but what are some easy countries to get in and out of that are 'must sees' in the region. I am interested in going to just about anywhere.
Any cheap flight websites from Korea too? |

difficult to enter???
i don't know how you mean. visa-wise, your country of nationality is all that really matters. obviously by land the only country one can enter is north korea, although you can't really travel to north korea.
easiest to get to are japan and china. i went to both and wouldn't consider them must sees, but they were all right.
most of asia is relatively close to korea. we went to taiwan, thailand and singapore and they were short, relatively inexpensive plane rides away.
i do think korea is nice and close to a great variety of countries to visit and it is also a reason i like it! |

It looks as though Russia is not too far away. How difficult is it to go there and hang out for a while? |

russia is difficult mainly in the sense that you HAVE to have a visa to enter and it is a very specific visa as far as dates and such. you cannot get a visa unless you have an "invitation" from someone in russia, which can be a hostel or travel agent not just a private citizen.
i can't speak for eastern russia because i have never been there, but i have been twice to western russia- moscow and st. petersburg and it is well worth the trip....but that side of russia is quite far from korea |

I don't know about being barred from entering other countries from here, but what I have found is that Korea is not the great base for travelling in Asia it first seemed. Air travel here is way overpriced, even allowing for the high oil prices right now. |

I think things are expensive in Korea because of the problems with the economy. Everyone is out for making money. |

how difficult it is or is not to enter any country depends on the country of your passport -
find the country's entry requirements on their website and it will tell you all you need to know regarding visas. |
