i'm reposting this, thanks to the mods for deleting the previous troll-filled thread.

only reply if you're actually interested in the homestay. other off topic or irrelevant remarks will be reported.

A Korean family is looking for a foreigner to homestay with them.

The husband is an Engineer who works for the government, and he speaks English well. He has a wife and 3 kids ages 10, 7 and 3. He's looking to trade free food and board for an hour a day of English with his kids (that's an hour total, not an hour per kid).

I know the guy personally and he's a really, really nice person. This would be perfect for a teacher who wants to wants to save extra money ... you can get out of your apartment, claim the free rent money, then live in a nice homestay place and pocket a few extra hundred dollars a month.

Here's the details:

1. Free board and food (2 meals a day, breakfast and dinner)
2. Very close to Jungguk Station (line 7 not far from Jamsil)
3. Minimum 3 months board, but would prefer longer (6 months or a year)
4. One hour a day English lesson with his two older children (nothing difficult, just fun and games)
5. No house chores (just washing your own clothes and cleaning your own room)
6. Nice, trustworthy people (I promise!)
7. No restrictions on your activities or curfews. Come and go as you please
8. Female only (his wife would be more comfortable with a female boarder).

I think this is a good deal and if you hate your apartment or pay too many monthly expenses. then it may be a really nice alternative.

here's more details:

1) your school or hogwan will pay you 400,000 won or 500,000 won a month MORE if you have no apartment. you can't get this money if you abandon your apartment, cause the school still has to honour the contract, but if you're starting a job, or changing contracts, you can negotiate without the apartment ... which saves you money.

2) add to that 100,000 - 150,000 won a month for utilities that you no longer have to pay.

3) add to that the 100,000 won you save a month on food.

that equals at least $600 or $700 in your pocket EACH MONTH more than you're getting now.

what are you giving up? you spend an hour a day playing english games with children.

are you obligated to spend time with the family otherwise? no ...
do you have free time to come and go or do as you please? yes ...
do you have a private, secure room? yes ...

i have to be honest. i WOULD do this, and i considered it seriously. however, my job starts early in the morning and it would take me over 40 minutes to commute. therefore i said no ... but for anyone living closer to jamsil, with a 9am (or later) start, this would be a good arrangement.

By your numbers it can put 600 to 700 dollars a month in the participant's pocket. Teaching an hour a day for five days a week equals 20 hours a month. At 50,000 per hour ( very reasonable for 3 students) thats a million won. Not so great a deal. Especially since he would probably want 7 days a week. Terrible. Not too mention the incalcuable amount of nonsense the homestayer would have to endure.

Would they mind if I brought my girlfriends over??

I have a M/W/F and T/T/S. Sunday is free unless I get lucky. We'll always keep it down, or offer to use the Hyandai/Kia.. I've got a license.

Also, I have 4 dogs and 2 cats, and they don't get on, so the kids would have to schedule the animals. If they touch them though I will kill them.

PS does the wife do any nude modelling for you? I like living with nude models. If so, Sunday is nude day. But not for hubbie and the kids.

PPS oh and I only eat western breakfasts. And I like to drink un-pasteurised milk on weekends. Also, I know lunch isn't technically included but I'd kind of need a brown-paper-bag lunch made up during the week. I'm not fussy, just like pastrami on rye a coupla times a week and something special for the other days. Obviously need a dill in the bag every day though!

For breakfast I require Irish oatmeal from the hills of Cork county served with a splash of fresh breast milk from a 19 year old Laotian girl.

My bed must have a hand stitched blanket made with the skin of white wolf foetus.
oh and lots of Pop Tarts. The cherry or strawberry ones -not that cinnamon crap.
