i know all hagwons are different, but I'm just wondering what your experiences have been with how teachers dress? i know i should have asked my employer, but so people usually dress business casual? tie? would a short sleeve button up shit be alright?
if it helps at all, im gunna be teaching at an ECC school

my first hagwon (we had kindy and elementary) i was told slacks, nice shirt...etc. we had quite a few formals (plays,presentations for parents) so we had to have one suit for those. they were pretty anal about how we dressed.

the 2nd hagwon...basically u could wear whatever u wanted.my co-worker who had been there awhile told me that one of the former teachers used to wear bball jerseys. hell, my buddy used to wear the shirts he would make on cafepress which were kinda derogatory.

obviously, i prefer the latter.

It really can vary....just send your employer an e-mail. Dressing nicely will only get you respect from your employer, students and students' parents though. You may be able to wear jeans and flip flops but consider how you will be viewed in a society where a suit is the norm for a man. If you buy stuff on sale in Korea you can put together some decent work clothes for cheap in Korea. Well worth the money.

Wear a collar and tie, arrive and depart with a jacket.

If you dress merely neatly, that is, without tie, you'll look like the guy who's had a long week on a Friday evening.
