Well, there's the crowd that eats anti-Americanism for breakfast. Nothing will please them and it won't make a bit of difference who is elected president in this election or any other election.
Then there is the crowd which is not dyed in the wool. There is a chance for Obama to connect with them. But I'm expecting it to be difficult. 'Once burned, twice shy'. |

| I was speaking to two Dutch and two Germans, all older. They were suspicious of both McCain AND Obama. I tried to re-assure them Obama would do just fine, but all of us seemed wistful for the experience Clinton would have brought to office. Anyway, what I offer is entirely anecdotal and I'm guessing that if you were to poll younger Europeans they might feel differently. |
