So, after being here 2 years, living in the same apartment, my school has told me I must leave my apartment 4 days early. Not Korea. My apartment. Stay in Korea, but live somewhere else.

My flight leaves on the Monday (which they already stated I could stay until), and they want me out Thursday. The landlord has said new ppl will move in and they can't/won't let me stay until the 1st.

Needless to say Im annoyed. I get back from vacation late on the 27th, and have to be out 28th morning.

They agreed to put me at a hotel. My question is should I demand a suite, and how much should I ask for for food for 4 days. Considering this is a HUUUUUUUGE annoyance for me.

Yes a suite would be reasonable and ask for 40,000 per day for food.

I think 100K per day is fair.

I think they should pay for your moving and the daily fee.

That would be enough to make me happy.

With that said, if it were my school, and they were asking me to leave because a new teacher was coming, I'd tell them "tough luck" because the new teacher can be made to stay in a hotel.

There is no new teacher. I am the last teacher here (school is closing). This is a public school btw....GEPIK.

The landlord has rented the place out for August 28th and does not want to negotiate further.

I saw the hotel, looks decent. 50,000 is for a standard room. Little do they know that my annoyance fee is much more than 50,000 a day Wink

When i asked her about payment for food she looked at me as if I just asked her to explain quantum theorem to me...in russian. HELLO I cant eat ramyen all day and night!

GRR....but it just ruins my whole plans for that weekend. Not to mention who likes to like out of a suitcase in a hotel?? Ugh....oh well, it will be the last 4 days....

I'd tell the landlord "Shove it, the new tennants can move in on the 1st."

If you've lived there for two years I don't see how it's physically possible for you to get back from holidays on the 27th and be out the morning of the 28th (I certainly couldn't... but, I have a lot of 'stuff').

Well i would pack before hand.

I had planned to do that anyway, just so its out of the way. Now I have no choice.

Also, I understand its easy for someone to say "tell them to stick it!!!!!!!!!!!" but really, sometimes there ARE no choices in the matter. The landlord has made the deicsion (im sure im not being told everything, like perhaps my school didnt want to pay rent for september. Little did they know they are STILL going to have to make it up to me).

Ah, c'est la crappy vie in Korea.

Yes, who knows what your school and the landlord worked out behind your back.

Make the school PAY, PAY, PAY! Personally, I wouldn't lift a finger to pack anything; and I'd want ALL reasonable expenses covered. Cool

Take the hotel and 20,000 a day for food. Pretend you are on vacation. Big inconvience but what are you going to do. Try to enjoy it. Hotels can be fun.

We're just cogs in the system. They just care that we show up to class.

Hope your school was a good experience.

Yeah I mean as time goes on Im becomming less and less pissed. IM STILL annoyed, but Im not like GIVE ME THE PRESIDENTIAL SUITE OR ELSE IN CHAINING MYSELF TO MY BED!

I dont want to be difficult but sadly, Korea has made me this way and I dont like it. Things here just have to be 4000 times more difficult than they need be. Im sick of the lack of common sense, the shut-up-and-bow-down attitude, and the -sorry-i-cant-think-on-my-own nonense that makes this country uniquely Korean.

it IS only for 4 days and it is at the end of the contract. It is an inconvience, but what can I do? Does staying in a suite make it less convienent? Not really. Yeah I can feel like Im on vacation, but ill just have had 2.5 weeks in hotels...as we all know, there is no place like home.

As good as Korea has been, I am SOOOOO ready to go home. I don't know how ppl stay here for 5-10-15 yrs. Anyway...
