There's information on the site I posted above now - we have to go to Migeum station on the Bundang line and get special buses at 10 or 10:30.
Well, maybe you have to, cos there is also a list of names for next week and I'm not on it......(looking at the list I think you might have to have an odd name to qualify for this camp!) |
There is an Excel spreadsheet with info for the Elementary program that works (i.e., I was able to open it), but the other one, for the MS and HS program, doesn't work -- doesn't open anything. |

| IF you are coming by your own car you need to be able to read Korean. Cos that map is in Korean. |

The navigation says 40 mins from my current school.
I couldn't imagine driving and not having navigation in the car.
It's worth learning Hangeul, just to use it. |

Saw that list ( I think) and I'm on it. So far no ones said anything to me about it. Anyway, if those are the dates then this list I saw must be for something else as the dates are in July. Must be an English camp. My school never sends me to orientation. And, w/ my teaching schedule there's no way I could go during June.
Does this post make any sense? |

I heard that the over 60's weren't required to attend. You are safe then. Not sure why not but that was the rule last year.
Why they have not asked you for the last few years. |

LOL's...I think my school finds me too indispensable to loose for a week. Probably only send the ones they feel are clueless and need it. That's my guess. Anyhow, I'd sooner go to work than to one of them. |

In Korea you need all the clues you can possibly get a hold of to figure out what's going on.
I was told by my school I would be attending. That's fine with me. I've stayed at this Hyundai Learning Center 3 times before (not as a GEPIK teacher) and found it an agreeable experience.
But today they got their spreadsheet fixed so you can actually open it, so I checked it out. My name wasn't on it. So, I called up Dain Bae to ask about that. She said they found they didn't have enough room to accommodate everyone, so they decided to drop off the names of teachers who started before this semester (I started in the middle of last semester) but haven't attended an orientation yet. I didn't bother to ask her when they were actually going to contact all the teachers that they dropped off the program. Surely, they will do it before the dropped teachers show up at the Center and try to register for a room. Koreans are, after all, famous for such thoughfulness, aren't they?
Anyway, if your name isn't on the list better not travel there anyway from Paju or someplace far away thinking that there will be a room for you without checking with the very able organizers. |

Download the file, the list is on one of the spreadsheet tabs. I don't have to go, this pleases me. |
Actually, the spreadsheet for MS and HS is defective on that page. If you go to this link: http://cge.ken.go.kr/contents/tbl_e_01_02/main_pds_content.asp?pds_no=20080619151548182698013
you will see a Excel spreadsheet that is a list of all the 182 attendees for the MS and HS event. |

I think the problem is a missing extension, just add .xls on the end of the filename.

You just got seriously lucky. School thinks you are going to orientation+GEPIK removed you from the list without telling the school= Hello 5 day vacation. I hope you didn't blow it and tell your school otherwise.
If you are really gutted and would still love to go...I'll sell you my spot (W50000 for the week?) |

I am shocked, absolutely shocked that you would even suggest such a subterfuge. Actually, I live near the venue. I could just commute there everyday.
Gotta run for the bus now. Cheers. |
