I have some time off right now and I am BORED out of my skull.

I'm contemplating going to Thailand for a couple of weeks. Just as a spur of the moment thing.

I have a couple of questions!

1) I hold a British passport. Do I need to go to the Thai embassy in Seoul and get a visa stamp, or can I just go straight on in (as I did in Japan)

2) Do I go to immigration to obtain a multi-entry visa stamp? As I don't want to invalidate my E2 obviously.

Many thanks!!

You don't need a visa for Thailand for stays up to 30 (?) days.
Or is it 60...? I can't remember but it's long enough for what you want anyhow. Officially you need an onward ticket out of Thailand (which it sounds like you'll have). You can get a single re-entry stamp at Incheon Airport Immigration as you're leaving. Costs 30,000 won and takes about 5 minutes.

You NEED a multi-entry visa 100%. Go to immigration and get that.

Erm... which one guys? Once I come back from Thailand I won't be going anywhere else. I'll only re-enter the country ONCE.

I connected it to the Korean one as well.. since mentioned E-2 being invalidated without the 'multi-entry'. If you don't have the multi-entry.. they tend to take a few days to switch. Assuming you are talking about the Korean one.

Thailand you definetely don't need a multi-entry..

You absolutely CAN get a re-entry visa at the airport.
Check the FAQ thread for directions to the immigration office in the departure hall.
They can't do multiple re-entry stamps there, only single re-entry's but that's all you need right. My info is correct. 30,000 won. I've done it a bunch of times and will do it again next month.
The other thing I just noticed is that your British. From what I've been led to believe Brits can change the single entry status on their E-2 to "multiple" for free. But this can't be done at the airport, only your local immigration office. In all likeliness this'll be Mokdong which is usually a chaotic enough experience to make paying the 30,000 at the airport seem pretty attractive.

Yep, what Camel said.

Both times I've left Korea I've gone to the wee immigration office at the airport and picked up the re-entry stamp (they don't do multiple ones at the airport). On both occasions the stamp has been free of charge because Brits get exempted from most charges Smile

Get a multiple entry permit if you're planning to leave Korea again (after your Thailand trip) before your E2 expires. Get a single re-entry permit if it's only this once as you'll save yourself a bit of won ~ maybe 30,000.
