I realize that I'm asking for a lot of shots from the peanut gallery for being a newbie. But I've been considering heading over to Asia to earn some cash and I've been lurking around the Korea english teacher boards for a little over a month now. Maybe I've been burned by the hostility show to me in the Saddam Hussein discussion, but between this board, KoreanESL, and English Spectrum, all you english teachers in Korea come across as complete a**holes. I wont name names, but if some of these people said to me in person what they say to each other online, I'd be knocking their teeth in. Is what I read the standard for english teachers, or am I just misinterpreting what I see?

With the help of Crossing Over's John Edward, at this very moment I'm channeling our dearly departed Lemon and he would like to ask you the following question:
"Are you saying you're not currently in Korea?"
What a strange question for him to ask!
What could it possibly mean?

This board is not unlike "Survivor". If you're an idiot, you will be crushed. Frankly, it's the same anywhere in the "real" world.

At this particular moment you may feel the board has a negative "put up or shut up" lean to it. You may not like it. But soon, you will come to understand it. And you will cherish it. That is the way of things.

Anyone else find a lot of irony in this statement?

True,

Some of us can be a$%holes on the board. Complainers and all that. In real life aren't most people nice unless there's a reason to be not nice?

That's the beauty of the internet. Almost no accountability.

There were multiple trolls on the Hussien thread. Stick around a bit and you'll learn who to ignore.

If irony were made of strawberries, we'd all be drinking a lot of smoothies
right now.

Have you ever thought of ending it all?

some of the people who post on here are aholes. others are nice. (like me!)

but...

unfortunately, (i haven't read the hussein post yet), people look at your post count, see it on 15 and any respect you think you may deserve goes out of the window. what i mean is "15 posts, stupid newbie, what does he/she know". some people think like this. i don't. plus, if you go in two footed into a what could be sensistive discussion such as the saddam post then people are, unfortunately, going to flame you (flame means be nasty to you) and such a post as the hussein post is where the flamers will hang out waiting for a newbie to make what they see as a stupid comment and then they will pounce on you with teeth bared.

some people take these forums far too seriously, so don't take it to heart.

ps i've just took one look at that hussein post and there is no way i am getting involved in some of the arguments going on. you learn which posts to look post on and which to avoid. like i said, don't take it to heart.
