I'm reflecting on what the Taiwanese had said too, personally wanting to say that I'd really, really liked Korean's hospitality, generosity, food, and nature. What I'd disliked , however, was this.

There were too many impolite intrusions in public life, a sort of insensitivity ensuing where Korean's had a sort of disregard for your identity, and quite a lot of belligerence. This latter comment is something Korean's must correct, and what I think reflects what others say.

But comments here also show a disregard and defensiveness on the part of the Korean's behalf. Some wish to imply you're being a white racist. What I'd said kind of just goes to show that there's a disliking for Korean behaviour in many parts of the world, and then there's this.

American's have all ready been judged by some to be the culprit with Korean misfortune, especially in all the military/political arena. A few here invoke this. Think, then, if there's a social defect of character that other countries recognize if Korean's but don't bring trouble on themselves and aren't all that innocent.

Not to argue or anything really, but can you please watch where you put apostrophes? I know it's the latest fashion to misuse them, but sometimes I struggle to understand what I'm reading due to wrong usage.

I don't know why really, maybe cos we too, just like korea, got invaded and are struggling to get our entire country back.....that being said we don't blame England for bringing "gayness" to Ireland, like the Koreans blame the Japanese.

Mate, if you want to make a concluding statement - it would help immensely if it was remotely coherent. This is just gibberish.

What the hell are you talking about?

Thanks for the sarcasm. I've been thinking about my comment since I posted it, and apologies to anyone that's offended. It was supposed to be ironic.

I was thinking about the Japanese racism a lot this week. For whatever reason my students have been making comments about Japan and I've been wondering why. The K-teacher didn't say anything about it and I felt I had to, so it's been running around in my little brain. Obviously you wouldn't know what's been happening in my classes this week.

I know that I am, like a lot of people, a little bit racist. It's programmed into us in all our societies. But, I'm married to a Thai person and for what its worth, live in Asia. At least I'm aware of my weaknesses.

there is a difference to being racist and just not knowing a great deal about others cultures and then there is also having a bit of fun, like the comment you made was obviously not serious, what the koreans say about Japanese is pure hatred, beaten (maybe not literally) into them from an early age.

i have many protestant friends in Ireland and i'm a catholic we always make fun of our religions, and this I don't believe this is racism/ sectarianism, as we are only doing it to poke fun at very close friends, i think it's like calling your friend ugly / fat, it's just another way to make fun of them.

Now start making totally derogatory (that's gotta be spelt wrong) marks about people's beliefs / faith / race and then i would start calling you a racist.

A little incoherent, I know. But read the topic sentence. In the Koreans' eyes, there's a sense they've done nothing wrong when it comes to the US-Korean relationship. Is this perhaps because of their aforementioned defect of character?

Do you understand now?
