|
|
Hello! I need some help/advice in regards to the criminal records check process in Canada, for the E2 Visa. I am trying to get all the logistics together so that I can leave here before the end of summer in order to begin teaching in Korea (hopefully Busan). I have absolutely everything ready, EXCEPT I AM STILL WAITING FOR MY CRIMINAL RECORDS CHECKS TO COME THROUGH. I have now been waiting 2 months for them, and still no response. Can anyone tell me if their records checks took this long? Also, does anyone know of an agency that I can pay to get this done ASAP? Has anyone had to give fingerprints for any reason, and how long did that take (I was not yet asked for fingerprints, but just wondering if that is common...or, in other words, if this process could go on forever!). Finally, does anyone know if schools are flexible with starting times because of possible delays due to such issues as criminal records checks or attaining all proper documents?
Any advice or info on these criminal records checks would be fabulous.
Thank you! |

| You can get your criminal record check in less than a week through International Fingerprint Services (IFS). You have to do a local police check. Cost is 75 bucks. |

Where did you apply for the check?
I assume you did not apply through the RCMP because you did not provide fingerprints. However, a local (city/municipality) CBC should take, at the most, a week.
Something just doesn't 'add up'. |

btw,
I was told that the MTP Criminal background check was wrong and was referred to www.truecheck.ca by the Korean consulate. |

[strike]How much does this service cost? I couldn't find it in the site?[/strike] Sorry, I found it!
BTW, I just applied for a CBC today in Oshawa (East of Toronto) and they told me it would be mailed in 2-4 weeks. I'm slightly concerned about this as I'm suppose to work starting July 21st. I obviously don't have E2 even processed yet. |

It's $35 something
Make sure that you mentioned that you need the vulnerable sector search.
It's suppose to arrive in the next business day, god I hope so. |

Park Young Suk: 416 512 8755 (on Yonge & Sheppard)
I had a document that need to be notarized for translation from Korean to English for only $30. I think simple notarizing should cost anywhere between $10-20. Call and ask to find out, it's the only way to know. |

Again the Korean woman at the CDN Embassy states you don't need the Vulnerable Sector Check. I asked many times. She said no |
I would really double check that with someone else... EVERYTHING I've read says you need a VSS... |

I got mine without even providing fingerprints. It's only a local check and I didn't even have to be in Canada to get it. Mine's not a VSS. Immigration has it now and are processing my visa. |

| If immigration will accept the truecheck.ca document, then I think this would be the easiest and fastest way to get your CBC if you are now living in Korea. Has anyone submitted this to immi yet? |
