Hello, I am planning on teaching in Korea in about a year or so. One of my last classes for my senior year in college is Career Planning. For this class, I have to do a mock interview for the position that I want. Since I am determined to teach in Korea despite the mixed-reviews, I am asking for some help on this project. Please post some of the interview questions that you were asked prior to accepting a position. It is okay if the questions were asked by a recruiter. Please and thanks! Smile

I can't remember word by word what the questions were, but it's along the line:

- What is your teaching experience?
- How would you approach _____ situations?
- Most students do not like to speak in class, how would you encourage them?
- What kind of teacher would you describe yourself as?
- What is your positive/negative traits

I hope these help.

My 20 won worth -

I've been in K-land three years at two public positions.

For my first job, the recruiter sent me some information (by email) and asked if I was interested. My written reply was -
'Yes, I'm interested. Please send more information with regard to...'
Apparently, the 'yes' answer constituted acceptance of the job offer and I was emailed a contract. Shocked

For my second job, I was supposed to interviewed by the POE (Provincial Office of Education) school inspector and, through the recruiter, arranged a date/time for a telephone interview. The school inspector never called. When I asked the recruiter "Why didn't the school inspector call at X time on X date?" His reply was "You not need interview... school inspector know you." Laughing

Seriously. Been to two interviews for two jobs here and both times I was asked the same question. I am no Brad Pitt so I just put it down to my charm. Smile.
Spoke to friends and they were asked the same. When can you start. A lot(Hagwons) of places just want to see that you are presentable. You have the job before you walk in the door.

I had couple interviews where they only asked "When can you start?" and I've always felt very uneasy about those people. They seem very unprofessional = untrustworthy.

I was asked if I was Christian by a Christian school. Honestly, most jobs ask you very few relevant questions and even after several years I find it shocking.
