|
|
I got two tickets over a year ago, one for a brake light being out, and one for not showing proof of insurance. I did my background check, and it came back clean. Then a couple of days ago a friend of mine got pulled over driving my car and they informed her that I had a couple of warrants. That's how I found out. I had totally forgotten about those tickets. I used to drive a car that I guess fits police profiling so I was always getting pulled over. They almost always let me off with a warning. I guess that's how these two slipped by.
The crazy thing is that the background check was done in the same county that my warrants are in, but it came back clean! I really don't get it, but now I'm about to leave for Korea, and I have two warrants that I can't even come close to paying for.
Has anyone had this happen?
Can I still leave the country, or will they stop me?
I would prefer to pay it once I'm in Korea, or maybe not at all, because I never plan on returning to Texas. I've tried google searches but with no luck. |

Well, bad news, guy. What I hear happens to people with a rap sheet as long and heinous as yours is that the cops hide on the plane and spring out just as you step inside. You can expect to be handcuffed and publically humiliated as they lead you back into the airport and then out to the paddy wagon. You'll be tasered if you resist. The cops will hold you in solitary until someone in your family comes up with the money to pay for your crimes against society.
You can kiss your career in Korea goodbye.
BTW, if you ever do get this issue resolved and come over here, don't ever let the Koreans know you were caught driving without a brake light. This is regarded as one of the most serious crimes possible in Korea. Pedestrians have been known to gang up on cars without a brake light, pull the driver out into the street and stomp him to death. |

Oh god! All of my worst fears have come true. Maybe I should try to bring a gun on the plane so that I can defend myself?
If I drive over the mob of pedestrians how will they possibly catch me? |

very funny. same thing happened to me. three warrants for unpaid speeding tickets (in texas, also). just got my record check and it's clean. you shouldn't have any problem leaving the country, getting/keeping a job, blowing your nose, etc. i talked to somone at the consulate who laughed at me when i asked if a warrant on my record would stop me from getting a visa. she said as long as i hadn't molested any children and didn't plan on attacking any koreans, i'd be fine. you're perfectly okay mainly because your record is clean. |

That's right. You need a gun. Especially when an ajumma with a nice ass pours beer into your ashtray to put your cigarette out. Especially when you've only had two drags off said butt.
It's a sin to leave your cigarette in the ashtray. In Korea, you must always hold your cigarette.
It makes a reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllly big difference, it does. |

Did you just say "ajumma with a nice ass"? Does such a thing exist? |

Hell yeah, it exists. Korean chicks in their 20s are a little bit flat, but the ones in their late 30s and 40s have great asses. |

Got caught speeding in Miami and an on the spot fine of $173. Traffic cop instructed me to get a post office check not cash and go to such and such and pay it. Got the check and was redirected to somewhere else to pay it.
Anyway kept getting sent all over of Miami Dade and nobody would take the check/speeding ticket. Still have the check in case I ever get stopped going to the states.
This was back in 1996. |

A lot of jurisdictions refer traffic tickets to a central agency in their state. |
