I know that appearances are very important in Korea, currently I live with about 15 internationals that are from Korea and they have mentioned plugs don't seem like a big deal over there. I was wondering if having 0 gauge, about 8 mm plugs would effect my hiring. I have skin colored ones that are very hard to detect even in person.
I also have a tattoo but it is on my chest and completely covered so I am not worried about that one.
These are how big they are, http://farm1.static.flickr.com/113/303053756_158629742c.jpg?v=0 by the way that is *not* me. |

Why? What is the point? Do you use it for tuning a radio or something like that? |

People are going to notice the shit out of those, "skin-coloured" or not. I don't know what they'll think of them, but they're going to notice. Do you have long hair? |

Yeah, I have to agree with squirrel, what is the point of them.
If you took them out what would happen, would it close or would you need reconstructive surgery??? |

mrsquirrel way to be insulting.
draz i have fooled strict employers before, they were suprised when they saw me outside of the workplace. No long hair here, my hair has definitely slowed down if you know what I mean.
nolegirl what is the point? it is a look that works for me. what is the point of girls wearing ear rings, or heels, to pull off a look. It would close most of the way, down to a normal piercing most likely.
I am kind of surprised for worldly people, you guys are a bit close minded and insulting. Kind of a turn off. |

I have a small nose piercing & nobody has a problem with it. When I first arrived everybody noticed & commented on it including the vp.....when I said I was happy to take it out for school the vp said it was fine, they were just curious about it.
Now nobody even notices it - mind you it is a lot smaller than those plugs. I also work at a public school where image is a little less important to the enrolment figures.
Maybe at a hakwon it would be a different story & if you're a guy that might be a little different.
Just be warned the kids will probably want to touch them, I spent my first couple of weeks with kids coming up & poking my nose. |

Are you going bald? Ever consider a lip plug for "pull(ing) off a look"?

Wow, thats about the most insensitive thing I have seen some one say on a forum in a while, towards the people in the picture. Culturally insensitive to the extreme. |

I'm not insulting anyone. It's cool for them and their culture. But, a whitey imitating it would look kinda, well you know, like a whitey walking around w/ dredlocks... |

Maybe I was being insensitive but seriously you might have to change a few things up to "fit in" or just so you don't get stared at as much so you can keep your sanity. I am changing certain things
1) I am not going to bring all of my pro-American/Army shirts that say "proud to be an American"
2) I am probably not going to bring my tight ass spandex dresses in leopard and hot pink that have low cleavage that I wore down in Miami so I wouldn't have to wait in line.. I already have the whole Russian look going, I don't need to add to it.
3) And I probably won't bring the shirt that says "I support single mothers" with a naked lady on a strip pole on it.
See... I am compromising |

I have seen quite a few Koreans with plugs like that. Don't worry about it. |

Yeah, and I bet they can't get a job as a Manhattan lawyer. Sometimes there's a difference between culture and impracticality.
BTW, the ear thing hardly stands out. |

Insulting?
Insulting would be telling you to grow up. You're not in university anymore. Get rid of the tuning knob on your ear lobe and get your hair cut.
If you must have body piercings put them out of sight so you don't give your employer something to fire you for in the future. |

I wasn't asking for a lecture, I have considered removing them for a while for these sorts of reasons. I was just asking about the KOREAN culture, not your own damn impressions of plugs.
I am out of uni, I am the supervisor of a saw crew, fuels reduction. Don' t talk to me like you would one of your brats. If you actually read my post, that picture is not me, I have a military style haircut thank you. There was no point in ridicule my question by asking if they were to adjust the radio. I'm sure that there are parts of your style that are less than appealing to me or others here, but that doesn't mean I am going to take cheap shots at you for it. You grow up, this may be the internet, but that does not give you full license to be a *beep*.
Nolegirl I totally agree with you on compromise and am ready to do so if need be on this. Did it back in 2003 when I cut off my long hair when I worked in Costa Rica. I have seen those I support single mom shirts, I would not wear one here! Some women do not take to kindly to that, haha.

That "saw" is a pretty awesome weapon. The military has no problem w/ that sort of "body modification"? |
