Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of doing a runner from my teaching post in Korea because I hate the Hagwon I'm in, but I've heard if that immigration won't allow me to teach in Korea again.

Is that correct?

Any help anyone could give would be appreciated, thanks in advance

Andy

I'd say just put in your notice. get a letter of release. and find a new job.

If in doubt. bring a tape recorder with you.

Well, this is certainly a question I have never seen before. If you do
a runner you will probably go to jail. That's right. Didn't you know that
teaching English is not a job? It is a legal obligation. You can never
quit. Immigration will stop you at the airport and interrogate you
about why you are leaving the DPRK, oh sorry, South Korea. You will
be interned in a labour camp and flogged daily......

Dude, wake up! It is just a fucking job! Leave anytime you want for
any reason you want.

The ONLY downside is you MIGHT have trouble getting a visa in the
future.

Give 30 days notice. Get some balls.

Why? Are they dishonest? Are they likely to swindle out of your final paycheck, so you end up working a month for free? If so, run. If not, honor the agreement and give notice.

IF you pull a runner on an honest school that has never cheated you, you are just as bad as all the dodgey hagwon directors out there.

If you have to ask, then just do it and don't worry.
