Today I was surprised to find a US$300.00 dollar check in the mail from the Dept. of Treasury. I filed with an overseas address and filled out the correct forms on Turbo and it said I did not qualify, but I still got it. On the check it says "Economic Stimulus Payment." I do buy stuff from the States online with my credirt card. Not sure if I can cash it here though??

MA TESOL, did you get all your previous year's income from outside the USA? I thought since I made zero money in the USA in 2007, and paid no taxes due to the out of country qualification, I wouldn't get a rebate.

I want my $300 since I will never see my social security!

Yes, I have been here 6 years and file every year. I never have to pay taxes and I have never rec'd anything back. I did it through Turbo-Tax and snail mailed it. I was not expecting it. I wont spend it quite yet. They know my employer is a foreign university.

I think cashing it might be a problem........I have never seen a Korean bank that ever cashed an American cheque before.........but, like anything else, there is always a first sometime.............................

Heck, if $300 would stimulate the economy, think what $30,000 would do.
Or $300,000.

I got mine too... All $3.00 I don't know how MA_Tesol got $300 if he had no stateside income during the filing year. Sounds funny.
