Anyone have any problems with SP1 installation? I mean, if you are a legit Vista owner, then I hope not, but I mean for those who have an 'alternative' copy.

I upgraded with the network install (download the file, install locally) and even let it get out to the net when my firewall asked...without a hitch.

From what I understand, I have the Vista loader (not the release since SP1) on the infamous Dell OEM and despite MS's claims to cripple that circumvention, I remain able to do WU, etc.

I wonder if it was because...

1. Being in Korea.
2. Wave 1
3. I didn't install one particular Windows update about a month ago that was a pre-requirement to getting SP1, but was causing problems on many machines.

Otherwise, I don't know how it is still all good. I had my Acronis backup waiting...

Anyone know if I missing something about WGA?

Why not just spend the $300 for a legit copy that will last you 8 years of updates?

Why not just try to answer the question?

So Vista is $300...we can use it for 5 to 7 years...not a bad return, I say. From the day I bought XP for nearly $300, I got 7 years out of it. .1 cents a day.

Now, little man...think about what you are doing. Or trying to do, rather.

Your attempt has no relevance to anything outside the thread it was extracted from. The quote stands alone and why I haven't paid for Vista is of no importance; I was illustrating to cost/return benefits of Windows, not discussing piracy, morality, my desire to pay for it currently or any other even remote connection you believe you are making.

Keep trying, my pathetic stalker.

Obviously if you want trouble free computing like you have had for all those years with Xp then to pay for Vista is the solution.

Where do you see me saying there is a problem?

Me, from above wrote:

I also must add that years of trouble-free computing come from knowledge, not paid-for software. Even those who paid for XP had trouble.

On with the topic.

I've installed Vista twice on Spliff's machine.

He updated Sp1 no problems. Pretty sure he accepts every update.

A reinstall was made a few weeks back because of a new soundcard (turned out to be the soundcard itself at fault) I believe he updates to sp1 again.

Pretty sure it's the Dell Disk - dual layer one.

Yes, I spoke with him today.

However, the question still stands:

How is this BIOS hack still working when MS said they would be targeting it with SP1?

That's better.

I think it was the Dell disk in the end. The dual layer one. 99% sure of it

Not the dell. This one ~Microsoft.Windows.Vista.x64.SP1.OEM.DVD-BIE~ 7.39GB. I'm pretty sure the dell one is only 4 something I'm sure Dem can confirm. Says "sp1" but I never see it when I install. But I just go the the MS update site and download and install it from there.
