I've never been there, but i've heard it's good. I'd love the party atmosphere, but rolling around in the mud wouldn't appeal to me....is it still worth going?
What's the nightlife like during the festival? Will there be many foreigners in town? |

It's full of rowdy, drunk foreigners making fools of themselves. So basically, they just transplant Itaewon to a beach for a few weekends.
The restaurants are great, but if I remember correctly there aren't a lot of bars or clubs around, save for a Korean style night club. |

Bad news, Cohiba-it looks like I won't be making it-I'm not certain, but it looks that way.
Really bad news, Cohiba-you won't be making money doing privates, you know the rest. |

a keyword search will pop up a number of threads from previous years, all with good advice. And, by now, at least the Korean part of the official website should be up & running, as well.
With rainy season having started earlier this year, it is also quite possible you will get full sun both weekends. camping/tenting it is a possibility, as well, just be careful where you pick.
It was always one of our favorites; you all carry on in tradition. We'll raise a cup from abroad.

And don't forget the mudslinging (get it? mudslinging?) that turned each thread into a flame war.
3 kinds of people existed in those threads: The young-at-heart "it is great" crowd, the old-ass-get-off-my-lawn "you aren't in university" crowd and the i-have-a-relevant-question-or-answer "what's all the fuss about?" crowd. |

Also, be careful with the games and fun stuff they set up. If I remember correctly, two people ended up with spinal injuries last year. |

Youth is really overhyped. It can only be a lack of life experience that somehow gives you the idea that rolling around in mud is going to be fun. Oh well...go run along and learn. |

Usually you're on the mark but not this time.
Rolling around in mud, especially with chicks with an appropriate BMI is the only desirable "tons of fun" you want to experience. |

Anywhere else but Korea and I'd believe you. Koreans allowing themselves to get "dirty" ....and koreans having fun.....two extremely rare and freakish things happening at the sime time ? I just can't see it.
(It can't be western women you are talking about ...you said appropriate BMI) |

ummmm,
let's see:
rollerblading, stunt kite flying, letting our dog race out on the mud flats, swimming in the rain, body painiting tribalist designs on our friends with the 'cosmetic mud,' organizing a club takeover for a night, fireworks, drumming circles of mixed Koreans & westerners, bicycles, the cool mini-motorcycles, lazy swims in the ocean, music concerts with a HUGE fireworks display afterwards, suntanning, gu-ee seafood barbecues piled high with different kinds of muscles . . . oh, yes - and girl watching/meeting (including a bunch of the entertainers who were there, like the Brazilians from the culture parade). Bikinis! Imagine!
The drive is also really, really scenic, if you have a car.
Like any festival-type event, it is what you make of it.
Regards,
G. |

I'm going but I definitely don't want to get muddy. That would drive me nuts. I'm going more for the spectacle and the surrounding beach. |
