That's truly bad news. In his day, he was funny and innovative.

I remember his Hippy Dippy Weatherman from the Smothers Brothers. One night he said something about a fire in the fields in Kansas was setting off a high moving across the Midwest. My parents just shook their heads and said, "Why is everyone laughing?"

It was my mom who came out on the front porch one afternoon, sniffed around and said, "Who's burning rubber tires?" George would have loved my mom.
