Asus, Acer, Samsung, LG, Sony, Toshiba, Fujitsu, Benq...
all of these manufacturers make 'workstation' NBs, by that i guess you mean 17: screen, gfx card etc....desktop replacement...
Go to a site like this http://www.notebookreview.com/ on the left is a search feature. You can put in spec u want, price range etc...bare in mind its USD but it should give you and idea of what kind of machine you'll be getting for your buck... |

I have an old one that I can sell at the end of August. Probably not what you're looking for though. |

I wouldnt reccomend buying in Korea anways, unless your going with a Korean brand. Shit just aint that cheap here.
By brands, i would highly reccomend Acer or Asus. Good systems, good worldwide support.
IBM, HP, Dell....your paying for a name.... |

Yes I want the quadro or firegl card. If its nvidia it has to be a quadro but ATI driver can still be hacked into firegl. |

Mostly maya.. Its my hobby. I miss it very badly since my laptop died recently.. I just don't have any time at home only at work.. plus my radeon card isn't great with texture handling, it has some artifacting.
Desktop at home serves as rendering and modeling usually, Final touches, pre animation, and texturing I did on my notebook. |

I see.
Well, I guess you should probably spend as much as you can on the beast. Don't waste money of course, but don't try to skimp.
There are a couple of concerns with the FireGL hack...I'm sure you know.
Good luck. |
