Ok, my friend and I are planning a last minute trip to Cebu, Phillippines during the last week in July. Does anyone have an ideal itenerary for us to visit the surrounding islands? What's the best way to purchase tickets? Through a website or a travel agent? Thanks!

There's tons of information about Cebu on this message board.
All you have to do is SEARCH for it. |

I got a good deal on a ticket from Jinny at Kangsan Travel. Cost me 625 000 won return from Seoul for the same week. [email protected] It was much cheaper than any of the other travel agents I tried.
Also I bought the Lonley Planet Phillipines and found it really useful trying to make plans. I think I'm gonna head over to Negros and then go learn how to dive on Apo Island.
Good Luck! |

You will be flying into Cebu on a night flight. Book your 1st night hotel ahead of time (by phone - no CC required) and get airport pickup.
If you are low budget, the Cessario, if you are a little more upscale, the Bella Vista. (free airport transfers and breakfast).
Wake up the next morning and catch a cab down to pier 1 or 3 for the trip over to Bohol.
Pier 1 is the supercat or oceanjet over to Tagbilaran. They run about 4 times a day each way. The rates are about p500 each way on one way tickets.
From pier 3 you can catch a slightly slower boat over to Tubigon on Bohol. They have sailings almost hourly from early morning till late afternoon.
The rate for 1st class (air-con) is about p150. From Tubigon you catch a V-hire (mini-bus / van) to Tagbilaran. If you want a resort in town, then the Bohol tropics is pretty decent with Ok pricing.
If you want the beach, head down to Alona beach (p350 from the v-hire terminal). I like the Alona Tropical or Alona Kew resorts but there are lots to choose from and it is never a problem getting a room on the beach. Rates go from p1500-p6000 per night.
Alona tropical includes breakfast for 2. They also have a decent dive shop but there are several along the beach and all are decent and offer PADI certs.
3 days for your diving cert. Then spend an extra day doing an island tour before heading back to Cebu.
When you head back to Cebu, avoid the resorts on Mactan. They are badly overpriced (5* pricing and 2* quality/service at most of them).
If you are up-scale, the Marriott at Ayalla mall is great. IF you are low budget, then a pension over on Mactan is a decent way to go. Ace Pensionne is about p1500 per night (double occupant). Do some shopping at SM or Ayalla malls, take a day tour of the city and relax a bit.
Evening flight to Cebu.
1 day going over to Bohol and settling in - relax and have some drinks on the beach. Arrange for your diving or water activities.
3 days for your diving cert. or beach fun / day trips to the surrounding small islands and snorkeling or rent a beach cat for a day of sailing.
1 day for an island tour of Bohol and some shopping.
1 day returning to cebu, settle in and do some shopping.
1 day for a city tour. Hire a cab for the day (make sure the driver speaks English).
Night flight home.
7 days done and time for home. Catch the airport bus to work.
Phone numbers and websites are already posted here. Just search the name and limit your search to the travel section and the search function will work just fine.
If you would prefer Boracay instead of Bohol/Alona beach, drop into the travel agent next to the Ace Pensionne house (J and J travel) and ask for Flora (she is the owner). Tell her you are a teacher from Korea and want a package deal on Boracay. 3 nights - they run from 200k won including airfare, transfers and hotel).

Thanks Stevil and ttompatz for the great information! I PM'd both of you! I'm going to email Jinny to book the vacation. Stevil, how long is your vacation package for? It's always a lot of work trying to book a vacation. I heard enough, we're going! |

Kangsan travel wants 675K for airfare during the last week of July. Anyone have any cheaper offers out there? We're going to book hotels separately. Any suggestions on a clean and affordable hotels out there? |
