So I'm going to rant....sorry folks. Any gyopos, intelligent Koreans, apologists....please don't take offence, this is about dumb Koreans and things that really should be better, or at least get better, this not about you....so no one is allowed to comment on crappy foreigners talking trash about Korea.....

For the last few months I've witnessed the idiot patrol out cruising the streets with no hint of the law. The local tow truck gang drives around with suped up tow trucks and seem to think that their flashing lights give them the right to run reds at top speed. These morons like to rip around on Friday night in their little gang. These twats put the bus drivers and guys with big black cars and shiny rims to shame.

Tonight they finally claimed a victim. A tow truck going at 80-100km/hr in a 60 zone ran a red and smoked a car, ejecting the driver into the street and crushing the car right to the stick shift. The ambulance was there in record time (must have been right behind them or something). The paramedics were about as skilled as 12 years olds. Lifted the poor guy right onto the stretcher, no neck collar, didn't even hold the guys head....hope like hell he didn't have a spinal injury. These two retards couldn't even get the stretcher into the ambulance...it was like watching Chris Farley and Rob Schneider doing a comedy routine.....discraceful.

The cops finally show up....no one stops to question what happened, look for witnesses, or question the tow truck driver who is still present on the scene. I stop and say he did it, he was driving fast....nod, smile, "This is Korean business"....bloody well heard that before. The key stone coppers are too busy waving those fancy waves at cars....looking kind of like little play cops rather than real cops. I get upset and kick the damn tow truck "He fucking did it" this time in English...they tell me to calm down...WTF....if this poor guy had his wife or his kid in the car they would be dead!!!! The poor driver is going to be in the hospital for months and hopefully nothing serious is wrong with him. This is time for bloody action, sort this shit out, find out what happened, who is at fault and stop this nonsense from happening again.

Then on top of this a huge chunk of tow truck is lying in the road and cars are running over it. At least I can do something. I signal a slow moving bus to wait while I pick it up so no cars will get damaged (or another accident from all the cars braking hard, or swerving)....the SOB drives right at me!!!!I turn a threaten to punch his bus...he drives at me again, yelling out the window at me....I'm just trying to help and protect the dumb asses bus from damage from the huge chunk of metal Tow truck hook...seems like he would rather just run over it and possibly puncture his tire....I remember how much I hate this select group of retards. I would love to climb onto his bus and punch the living crap out of him in the hopes that one less retard on the road might actually make things a little safer. Wait I should go back and kick the crap out of the tow truck driver....I want to bloody my knuckles on his face so that he looks like the poor guy he hit, but he is now pukng his guts out. Hopefully he has some internal bleeding....I check him out, no bruising....just freaking out because he just may have killed someone, can't believe he's going to walk away with out a scratch.....what a peice of shit.

So all in one night, tow truck drivers, paramedics, cops and bus drivers....all retards.

Damn I wish I had video of these retards running red lights....I would be going to the police tomorrow to try and convince them this turd needs to go to jail.....

bloody frustrating....I imagine how powerless I'd feel if this happened to my girlfriend....bloody more frustrating....I briefly think about going back and punching the tow truck driver, may be trying to crush his balls so he couldn't reproduce....., although I'm in Korea and things would not go well for me, and the best action would be to tell the police......even more bloody frustrating.

End Rant.....

Be careful out there. Hope this poor guy doesn't have any serious damage.

I know you're trying to be the Good Samaritan and help out the situation, but you gotta understand that Koreans don't want your help even if it means their life. If the bus driver was going to puncture a tire, so what? Let him, let the people inside the bus get jolted.

Korea is chaotic and they don't really give a damn about strangers. So what if their country and people go to shit? So what if they never learn their lesson? Their life. Foreigners often times care too much about the welfare of Koreans when Koreans don't want to be cared for.

Koreans have no gratitude when you try to help. Not once have they bothered to say "Thank You!" right?

That's what Koreans should be saying to all the foreigners who genuinely try to help out their people and their country. But they're not!

I'm naive, but if I were as pissed as you are right now... and for a good reason too!

Take a Korean friend with you and make an appointment with someone high in the SMPA organization. Try to meet the Police Commissioner or one of his underlings. Give a written statement of the accident and make sure to tell that you're not that impressed about the performance on the accident scene. Who knows, maybe sometihing might actually happen?

Maybe it's the Finnish in me, but if I ever saw someting like that happen and the police, not to mention the paramedics, was incompetent and didn't accept my statement... I'd file an official complaint.

My main problem in this case is that the cop didn't take your statement even when it was obvious that you saw everything. As for the paramedics, they obviously don't belong in an ambulance. They would be better suited to run a meat delivery truck.

This may seem unrelated, but according to an article in the Korea Times today , FDI ( foreign direct investment) is once again down in Korea.

Every investment company in Korea is pulling out and these idiots that make you pull your hair out on a daily basis are going to be in the bread lines soon.

Why does this story have to be about dumb Koreans? Does it really change the story so much to say "this is about dumb PEOPLE"?

Korea is fucked because of reasons like this.

I remember once last summer, my friend and I were driving through Dongdaemun. Not fun.

So we are at a red light then suddenly from out of nowhere, to our right, a taxi FLIES like mad through the red light, and SLAMS right into a black sedan. The taxi bounced like a basketball off the car and spiraled out of control, wrapping itself around the pedestrian walk signal. The entire left front end of the black car is destroyed, tire crumpled underneath the engine, woman in the front seat is unconscious with her head on the wheel. Then again, from out of nowhere, a tow truck is on the scene, followed by two more. It all happened in about 3 seconds right in front of us, we were the first ones at the light. We both looked at each other and were like Bill and Ted "Whoooa."

Then the light turns green, I wasn't sure what to do. Do I get out of the car and try to help the lady? I am first aid certified. My friend said to pull the car over so as I am trying to get into the right lane, the honking starts. All the cars behind us start impatiently honking their horns. There is no way to pull over so I inch forward, towards the mangled car. As I get closer, it is clear the woman in the car is not well. She was not moving, her eyes were closed and her head was down on the wheel. There was nothing I could do because cars were speeding past her in the other lane, whipping around the wreck and cars were speeding around her to our right. I was pissed off, couldn't get around her because to many cars to my right were flying by at mach 9.

Korea is fucking bullshit when it comes to driving and I hope that all Koreans who read this realize that and start to see it from another perspective, maybe try to promote less hazardous driving.

Korea, slow the hell down, obey the rules on the road, for the sake of someone's life other than your own, change your attitude on the roads. The world is watching. Japan is sparkling.

Another thing I saw this weekend really made me question people here. In Hongdae on Sunday some friends and I were walking on the street. We came across a crowd of people standing around a man who had fallen off his bicycle. He was laying on the ground, looked like he could have had some type of injury, who knows. People are just standing there looking at him like he was a Picasso exhibit, eating ice cream, pointing, giggling at the man on the ground who is not responding. There is a man behind me with his girlfriend. He has his phone in his hand, looks like he is about to call someone, then puts it away.

I call 119, since nobody else in the crowd of 30 people sees any reason to do so. I try my best to tell the woman on the phone that I am in Hongdae and there has been an accident. The man behind me hears me attempting to speak in Korean and starts fucking giggling. I put my phone in his hand. He looks at me all confused, then says "Yoboseyo, ne, uh, ne," then he proceeds to tell the woman on the phone what happened.

He puts the phone back in my hand, says "thank you," then walks away with a shrug.

I could go on but I won't. There is obviously no point.

I agree, be more careful here cause if something happens to you, you're fucked. Nobody here cares about you, they would rather watch you, point at you, giggle, and eat ice cream and laugh at someone on the ground with an injury.

Yeah, everyday I see these tow truck drivers driving like they're kings of the world. They are often given right of way from the cops. Bus drivers in my city, and I'm talking PUBLIC bus drivers, run red lights and basically think they are above the law. OP did the right thing telling the cops what happened. Someone has got to stand up against the chaos and if Koreans won't do it, foreigners should. And no, this is not being ethnocentric. What's it going to take for change to occur? A city bus plowing through a kids hagwon bus? A US Army vehicle, louder than a rock concert, plows over and kills 2 young Korean girls who ran in front of it, and all hell breaks out. Wow, astounding.

I hear you. There are so many things I love about Korea and part of me really wants to see it prosper. But then there is another side of me that gets pissed off about things such as what the OP had to deal with, and I just want to see Korea crash and burn thanks to it's citizens own stupidity.

Nothing really "ah crap Koreans are morons" about this accident but it was fun to watch the people trapped inside try to figure out how to get out.

Yes, it is unfortunately Koreans...it is their lack of law enforcement, poor paramedical training, poorly paid and undertrained police force and of course the biggest collection of bad drivers I have ever come across....well, there are lots of places with worse driving but they are a lot more undeveloped. Korea is a developed country and I think these are things that should improve here. If this were my home country I would feel the same about my own people.....I just wouldn't need to say dumb Canadians...it would be assumed.

This type of driving occurs a lot in Korea. There are distinct groups of really bad divers. Those who drive recklessly because of a lack of enforcement and those who drive poorly because of lack of training....then there is a group we never talk about on Daves...the really good drivers...the majority in my opinion.

This accident was caused by very reckless driving, reckless driving that has been very noticeble for the last 5 months. It is appaling that the local police force has done nothing about it.

Those tow truck drivers are a curse of pure evil. I, and several pedestrians, was almost killed by one rushing down the SIDEWALK in Suwon a few years ago.

In Korea the thinking seems to be that you can do anything you want with your vehicle if you simply put a red flashing light on the roof. Those stupid Secom security guards are another example. You're not official emergency vehicles, freakin' shiteheads.

The driving culture here is still very primitive. That's one criticism I don't hold back on. Sadly, developing places like China are even worse.
