ive also heard great things about DBQ, never dived with them though. i have spoke to them a few times. I want to get some fun diving in, but they dont seem to go that often according to their calender. the problem for me is they leave in friday nights, i finish work at 10pm in incheon so can never make that.

does anybody know any good idea of how to get diving done most weekends here, im actually an OWSI and taught in the UK so the cold, depth and bad vis wont concern me, i just seem to hit deadends everytime i try to get wet as a weekend thing.

I think there is an outfit called "Scuba Greepeace" or something like that. Look them up on the search section of the PADI site. If I recall, they were located in Incheon.

If you are that close to the airport, you might want to just fly to Jeju. It's about 170,000 (return) and you can get a day of diving in for about 80,000-100,000 (depending on how many dives you do, and if you ahve your own gear). You can get a room for 25,000 a night. So for less than 300,000 you can get in a weekend of great diving for less than what most Korean shops charge for a day trip to the east coast. Not to mention that you can get to Seogwipo, Jeju faster by air than you can get to the east coast by car...especially in summer season. Don't even get me started on the traffic jams you'll encounter on the way home.

If you get the first flight out of Seoul, you can catch an airport limo bus from the airport in Jeju City to Seogwipo on the south coast. YOu could be there by 9 or 9:30am. Call Ralf from Big Blue 33...he'll pick you up at the bus stop and take you diving.

Any certified diver is allowed to go on any tour with Deep Blue..They just dive at different times than the students and do different sites. As for leaving Friday night, If you just want some fun diving, then catch a bus up to Sokcho on Sat Morning...get the dive site info and show up diving for around noon. Get a couple dives in, join the BBQ and after activities and do a dive or two Sunday. Catch a ride back into Seoul on Sunday and head back to Incheon...no problems what so ever. Just have to talk to Russell about these things.

Sometimes the website Calendar doesn't get updated as often as it should because Russ's webmaster is in Iraq and he doesn't let Russell touch it because Russel has a tendency to make websites somehow explode on contact:)

Where do u find a place for 25,000 on the weekend? Please pm me the info cause I have never seen anything that cheap on the weekend on Jeju in the summer besides a jimjilbang. So please give me the hotel.

Also remember the small hidden costs like the airport limo which costs about 8,000 each way and so forth.

But I have only ever heard GREAT things about Big Blue also and will hoipefully soon give them a try.

I wouldn't worry about summer passing you by. Some of these nutters dive all winter in dry suits <shiver>

There is a place next to Ralf's shop that has been 25,000 per night for years. If it has gone up in the last season or two, I don't know. Ralf can take care of you. Yeah, Airport Limo...Forgot that.

Flight: 170,000
Diving: 80-100,000 (can't remember)
Motel: 25,000
Bus: 16,000

Total: Just under 300,000.

The drawback is you can't dive Sunday (unless yur work schedule allows you to come back Monday morning).

i work afternoons, so i can come back mon morning no probs, thats the idea behind my 4 days there next month, to scope it out. i taught in the uk all year round, so dry suit, no problem and from what i gather, the coldest that jeju gets is the warmest the uk got! haha. what about gettind dry suits out here in korea, or do you think i should ship mine from back home, perfect fit and i love it? ive looked at costs, plus im a big guy with big boots (US 15) so i need it to be comfortable, which mine is. they dont seem so cheap out here from what ive seen.

the other thing is im an OWSI, i need a handful more certs to make MSDT, then I intend to do my IDC Staff, 2 of my friends just bought a dive shop in Bali and in a year or so i wanna head out there and work for them, do you think its possible to bring students (my friends basically) along and just rent equipment and pay their way? this i could do back home, but i dont know here. they will be my students, i dont poach people off others.

I have no Idea about the student thing..you'd have to talk directly to Russell about stuff like that...If you rent at korean dive shops though they do not have octos so that would be a problem.

As for drysuits, I would ship mine personally. Or once again talk to Russell he gets some pretty good deals, but shipping would prolly be cheaper and more comfortable in the long run with your giant feet:)

DBQ returning on Sundays all depends on Traffic...sometimes 6..sometimes 9....all depends.

Have fun in Jeju,
Cheers,
Lorne

I got my open water cert in Thailand back in February, and now I'd like to get the advanced course done as well. Might even do the rescue course while I'm at it.

Where's a good place to do the advanced course in Korea? I'd like to take the course during Chusak in September. Thinking of Mokpo, Yeosu, or Jeju.
