Itaewon market has a good selection of relatively cheap but hardy backpacks. I recommend them.
Good store near McDonalds and another not far from the outback steakhouse.

I just got a bag from the namdaemun market. I don't know the exact size but i'd say it stands about three feet tall. Lots of compartments. internal frame with lots of padding for 42,000W . it's a DOWNTOWN brand, which i guess is a korean brand. Nothing fancy, but it seems like it could last a year or two. I almost bought the same bag for 60,000 from another guy, so it pays to shop around.

Did you get it in the market or from one of the hiking/camping shops just ouside the market along the street?

From the market. If you come out of the subway into the market where there are a couple of eye glasses shops and walk down that kinda main market alley into the market, it was from a small inside place just up a little bit from a corner outside place that specialized in bags.

I know that isn't much help. but trying to give directions in that maze is crazy
