I took my CBC over to my lawyers today and he insisted on simply photocopying it and then wrote on the photocopy that this is a true copy of the original... I didn't think it was right at the time but he said it should be fine, he put his gold notary public seal on it too... I don't think he realized though how picky The Korean Consulate can be though.
So my question is, do I need a certificate attached to the ORIGINAL saying this is true (as it is not a copy)? Or will this be ok for the Korean Consulate (in TO)? |

I just got mine rejected because it was a copy. You need the original. |

I was told that the photo copy is fine by someone working at the Korean consulate. You should never need to send the original because you might need it in the future! Think about how difficult and expensive it is to obtain another original?
My criminal background check was notarized both by the lawyer and the Korean consulate and it should be fine! It was actually the lawyer who made photo copies, I was expecting him to notarize the original, but this is actually a pretty standard routine. |

Hmm, wonder what the consulate would say if I brought the original along too, but since it is not notarized (only the copy), what would they say? I'll call them. |

Well since CBC's are only valid now for what, 3 months (or is it 6), I probably wouldn't need the original after this contract. It wasn't that difficult for me to get (two weeks waiting) and it was only 25 CND dollars. I will def call the Korean Consulate tomorrow though and see what they have to say. Thanks! |

That's the same thing as a certified copy of your diploma so it should work.
Also, doesn't immigration require CRCs to be no more than 6 months old when finding a new job, or is it a one time thing?
Any ideas? |

I think it was recently changed from being not valid after 3 months to 6 months, but I don't know for sure. When I call the KC on Monday I'll get the answers, at least ones pertaining to Canadians. [/i] |
