I just came across this story and thought it sounds similar to what I read on this board a while ago.
http://bbs3.agora.media.daum.net/gaia/do/story/read?bbsId=S103&articleId=11137
This man tried to help a girl being harrassed by a guy on the street and ended up in a brawl with 3 guys. She was crying and desperately asking for help and this guy jumped in, making one guy's nose bleed. Later he went to the police station with all of them. Funnily, the girl suddenly sided with the bad guy who turned out to be her boyfriend and began accusing the man who "helped" her of random violence. Fortunately, there was a witness who could argue against her. Now, if you read the comments, one may get an idea that this sort of thing is not a very rare happentance. You help someone but rather get accused of criminality. People are even considering existence of pro-scammers for "blood money". Keep this in mind and be tactful when you want to help out someone in trouble. Secure witnesses first. (Btw, sorry, there's no room for the knight-in-the-shiny-armor Western vs. Korean ego booster. These guys who helped random strangers are Koreans, unfortunately.) |

There's a cop in my family, and he always said that the most dangerous calls to respond to were domestic violence. You roll on a DV call, see a man beating his wife while she screams bloody murder, put the man in handcuffs, and then the woman might attack you for trying to arrest her husband. So the OP's story doesn't surprise me terribly. |

Yeah, but isn't that what people have been saying here for awhile? Getting involved in Korea (especially a domestic dispute) is just going to get YOU in trouble. It's asking to get either a) beaten by a group of K-Guys helping their abusive friend or b) accused of starting it to begin with and then the cops sure as *beep* aren't going to take your side.
Women in abusive relationships are usually emotionally fucked and, as both you and Rumple noted, are much more likely to take their "loved" one's side than they are to tell the truth and get him tossed in jail. |

I have never understood how Korea works when it comes to conflicts. People can yell and scream at you. They can start a fight with you but if you hurt them more you get in trouble. If I ever fight someone in Korea you can be damn sure I am getting the hell out of there before the police show up. |

What's with the question marks? I hope it's not because you think that "funnily" is being used as a synonym for "amusingly". If that's your reason for the question marks then it's pretty sad that Doggyji, for whom English is a foreign language, has a greater grasp of it than you.
"Funnily" used in this sense is a synonym for "strangely" or "surprisingly".
If your question marks are supposed to indicate that what the girl did isn't surprising then I apologise. |

Of course. Funny strange, not funny ha ha. Although, I usually see it used as "funnily enough" rather than simply "funnily". |

Don't ever help a woman. A woman wouldn't p!ss on a man if he was on fire.
seriously. consider being in a platoon/brigande or whatever you call it filled with women and you get captured. I don't know the exact chance of them even thinking about doing anything to rescue , but it's somewhere between 0 and 0.000000001 %. They;d be in the shoe store giggling , or sacrificing small animals to put in their couldrens mere minutes later instead. Now compare that to Chuck Norris. |

what a jerk you are - the ????? are meant to be exactly as posted you moron - funnily is NOT a word therefore how can one decipher what it is supposed to be?
I hardly think the OP has a better grasp of E than I do - another moronic remark
but then, consider the source, I suppose |

Funnily enough, you didn't have the presence of mind to consult a dictionary before making such claims. Leads me to think that the OP does have a better command of English....
