i just returned for a second year and just moved in to my apartment. however, the apartment is nothing like it was described or appeared in the picture. the picture they sent was one they got off a website and the only thing that is similar is that it is also a loft apartment, other than that it looks nothing like the one i'm sitting in right now. the apartment was a huge factor in me taking this position. i actually took a pay cut to take this job thinking i was going to get a nicer apartment.
so my question now is, what are my options. if i decide to just leave this job and get another one, i'm assuming i would need a letter of release, is this still true with the new visa rules? does it matter that i haven't applied for a arc card yet? i have voiced my concern to the school and am trying to work out a compromise at the moment. but i would like to know what my options are if i do decide its not worth it and to just move on. |

Call your Mammy. You have a roof over your head and a job. Get over it. |

I promise you - what's being hoped for here is you won't fight this and will relent.
there is a possibility your landlord has something different and available but don't hold up too much hope for that either.
the school has put up key money for your place, unless they have a huge number of teachers and can easily find someone else for that place, well, you get the picture (literally!)
if it's clear they sent you a picture that wasn't of this place and told you it was - or did it say "similar?" or something of that nature? or was it explicit, that is, this is the place where you'll be living?
that's very important because they'll try to say it was a "misunderstanding" "please forgive our bad E" excuse
if your new place is really that unacceptable, stick to your guns and insist on a letter of release - be prepared to pay back your flight tkt tho; whatever you do, if I was you, I wouldn't start teaching or you're going to get suckered even further - as in - not get paid for it if you decide to leave -
don't be afraid to follow the chain up to whoever is in charge.
good luck, you certainly need it - ! |

Good advice moosehead.
And as a warning to others - never assume anything in K-land! |

Clever, thanks for that insightful piece of advice. I'll certainly take it into consideration as soon as you grow up and stop acting like a 5 year old. But we all know that will never happen. |
