By now, everyone knows there are "groups" for ESL teachers in Korea on Facebook. Well, lately, if you sign up for one of those groups, you seem to get some "new friend requests" from Koreans who are actually recruiters. I've only had it happen once, but others I know are being spammed to death by these scumbags. If you ask them how they know you, they say "We teach together in Korea."
Once they are accepted as your "friend" they can see other contact info so you never get rid of them.
Then, they ask questions like "Are you really happy at your school?", plus they sure seem to ask a lot of questions about what you are "willing to do."
Whatever you answer, they say they can do better for you. YEAH, RIGHT.
The big kicker is that some of them offer "sub-recruiter bonuses" to anyone who gives them the names of other potential teachers. Is this even legal?
One named "James Choi" has been very busy on Facebook. He seems to have nothing better to do than offer $400 as a "sub-recruiter bonus" to anyone on Facebook.
Take my advice and don't accept as a "friend" anyone on facebook unless you are CERTAIN you know who they are. Lying scumbag recruiters are lying about being teachers to gain "friends" and then the spamming begins. |
