9 - 45 minute classes 6 nights a week! And it doesn't mention all the time necessary to prepare for all those classes to do the excellent job that will be expected of you. You're looking at a 13 to 15 hour day, 6 days a week! You'll come in for the noon meeting and then prepare until 5:00PM for your night of back to back classes. Yikes! That's major burnout. I bet they're demanding as can be and few could finish this contract.

Are you a teaching robot that doesn't get tired, stressed out, or ever complain? If so, then knock yourself out on this one.

OP,since you brought it up (BTW, how's the recruiting business, these days?)-

There is a staff meeting at noon for 40minutes. We have a lively discussion about each prepared topic in a very pleasant atmosphere-never talk about the school or students matter. Every Friday, we have a gourmet restaurant hopping at the meeting.

A waste of time "meeting" every day with no extra money for it? Rolling Eyes

"gourmet restaurant hopping"? What the fudge is that? Rolling Eyes

I like how they are honest though. That looks like a good job for someone with at least a year of experience. I know many teachers who aren't interested in partying and just want to work. Honesty is a precious and rare commodity in Korea.

I think the lively discussion regarding the prepared topic is a really good idea actually. I think they are talking about brainstorming the lesson plans?

I don't know anyone in their right mind who would want to work till 1am though.

"hopping" or "to hop" is a verb that is used for serving food and drinks or "waiting."

Think of the job "car hop" or the restaurant "I-Hop."

No one ever discusses that the job is bad because it makes it difficult to stay more than one year.

I know that Hagwons get at least 10 days a year and that can include weekends, but no one seems interested as to whether you can use that Holiday to stay 2 - 4 years.

I know I can't, I burn out every year and so I will not re-enter the hagwon environment. Though I guess I have reached the limit of my time here, its not doing it for me and I am one of the very few who have been here this long without the required issues.

So good luck to all the newbies who will walk this shore, I am out in Feb. Try to keep a smile on.

Or it could possibly mean International House Of Pancakes.

This could be a good job for a night person. But then they ruin it with the noon meetings. Who wants to have classes until 1AM and then a meeting at noon? Without the noon part I would think this would be a good job.

Really?!? This is almost more tempting than the 3.5 salary! Ok who am I kidding....but if this is true, it's a great perk!!

IHOP was selected as a name because it has a double meaning.

(I thought it was too obvious to mention.)
