I don't know about this. You can laugh and say whatever you want, you may think I am crazy, whatever. This really happened, last night.
I was wasted exhausted, not wasted, but wasted exhausted yesterday. I was so tired. I went to sleep around 11. I have the fan on in my apartment when I passed out in my bed.
I was in the middle of a dream about low overcast gray clouds. In my dream, I was looking up into the clouds into the distance and there was a giant 747 coming my way. It was about to land. Now I was deep into unconsciousness and I felt in my dream as if I was being deprived of something. I don't know what it was. I could feel as if I was struggling for something. In my dream, I was focusing on this airplane that was soon to land, but it wasn't coming soon enough. Then I started choking/gasping for air.
I woke up in my apartment around 3 am. I was breathing heavily. Almost as if I was being choked and suddenly allowed a bit of air. I was dizzy and I was weak. I rolled over and there it was. My fan on full blast about 4 feet away from my bed. My windows were closed and so was the door to my veranda.
I feel compelled to post this because I think either I am going crazy, or, maybe fan death is somewhat of a reality.
Again, you can think I am crazy, or stupid, or whatever. It really happened. I don't usually wake up in the middle of the night gasping for air, but then again, last night was the first night I slept with my fan on. I'll be keeping my windows open from now on. Say all you want in response to this. Don't die in your sleep. I'm warning you. |

What would really be scary is if the fan were five feet away when you went to sleep. |

Well I can't contradict what you say because I wasn't there and am not a scientist. But I can say that my whole childhood was spent with a ceiling fan on above me and the window and door closed while I slept and I'm still around to tell the tale. |

I've been reading posts mentioning the hilarity of this all day....but now even the rational part of my mind will be reluctant to buy a fan when I'm over there, and I'll be in the most humid city! Damn =\ |

I have slept with a fan on every day since I was in Korea, and I have slept like a baby. Meaning I wake up every three hours screaming for a nipple in my mouth and crapping my pants. |

I hate wind, including wind from fans, and can't understand how anyone could sleep with all that wind.
I have had to turn my fan on a few times to get cooler air in the apartment in the evening, but I put it in the other room.
Edit: right now the office AC is going and I can feel the breeze touching my eyeballs. Yuck!! |

I'm the opposite, I find it hard to fall asleep without a fan's breeze. My gf hates it, so the fan is on one side and my gf is on the right. (That's right, K-netizens, she's Korean!!!! I'm going to kill her with my fan one day.)
I can firmly say the OP could blame his dream or medical condition on anything in the room. "There was a bar of Dove soap in the restroom. I bought it that day and never before I had almost died in my sleep." |

With the rise in consumption of ice cream, so too rape.
Does ice cream consumption cause rape? Rape, ice cream consumption? Or, is there another explanitory factor.
(Maybe heat?)
First, examine known causes for shortness of breath during times of sleep. Likely, there will be better explanations. |
