Just wanted to know what you guys thought about these topics for summer camp. My summer camp is split up over the summer. I'll teach 2 classes on Monday and 2 classes on Wednesday for 5 weeks. So the plans reflect that. If anyone wants more detailed plans PM and I'll send them to you.

I needed ten topics. For each topic class is structured basically the same. We will watch video clips, discuss them, go over vocabulary words in some creative way (still working on that one), watch video again and fill in worksheet, review, and then find some activity to complete.

1 - Learn some magic tricks
2 - Travel the world - vacations and making vacation posters
3 - Dirty Jobs - a look at disgusting jobs no one wants
4 - Natural Disasters - Make a volcano
5 - Environmental Awareness - recycle - make recycled paper
6 - Create our own superhero - Write a comic book
7 - Holidays in different cultures
8 - First Aid - learn about it then practice on your friend
9 - Write a newspaper about camp
10 - Cooking day - sepuencing events - make some kind of food

The principal told me they wanted lots of activities so I think I got it covered.

What do you guys think of these ideas. Think the will work.

Sure, it'll work if you are prepared and have the necessary materials.

Don't make any Korean food, as it is disgusting and bad for you.

really good ideas.. i like the cooking day lesson. but the dirty jobs thing? are you certain none of your kids' parents do any of them? Wink you could always do a sports day: 3 legged race, egg-spoon race, egg toss (a bit messy), etc. then take pictures of the kids doing these (embarrassing) activities and put them in the camp newspaper

They sound good.

I'm curious though, did you just sit in your office and think all of them up? Or did you get inspired by any threads here? Or find some internet sites? Or what..?

I don't teach kids anymore and I never had to 'make' a camp when I did, but I'm wondering where the plans come from is all. If it all came from your head you're probable an awesome teacher =) Good luck on the camp. I'm probably not cut out for kids camps..

Honestly, I steal my ideas from everywhere. Some ideas I got from this site, some off the internet, and some I came up with.

Daves: 1 - Learn some magic tricks
Daves: 2 - Travel the world - vacations and making vacation posters
Myself: 3 - Dirty Jobs - a look at disgusting jobs no one wants
Myself: 4 - Natural Disasters - Make a volcano
Myself: 5 - Environmental Awareness - recycle - make recycled paper
Internet: 6 - Create our own superhero - Write a comic book
Internet: 7 - Holidays in different cultures
Daves: 8 - First Aid - learn about it then practice on your friend
Internet: 9 - Write a newspaper about camp
Myself: 10 - Cooking day - sepuencing events - make some kind of food

The ones I found on the internet or Daves, I have changed and modified to fit my needs. I could find the idea online, but the actually plans I came up with myself.

I like finishing camps with a Basketball/Soccer shootout spelling bee. Studetns are usualy in teams, and when they spell a word correctly for their team, they have a chance to shoot a basket or take a soccer shot on a goalie. If they score, they get extra team points. At the end you have an individual spelling champion, and a winning team.

You are gonna need a lot of materials... Good ideas though. Will the school pay for the materials?

I'm keeping things basic because mine won't...
