Anyway, just search for it. The consensus is that the DDR2 512 mb does not access it's memory fast enough to justify it. The 256 at DDR 3 outperforms the 512 version.
That said, doesn't look like it is the greatest card out there. So I'll be upgrading in a month or two probably. We'll see how it rolls first.
There's a ton of forum articles on this question but not a ton of benchmarks. |
I read through it, but, just like Dave's, that is a forum, not solid research. I'll look for it later. |

I didn't find much research comparing the two. I found about fifteen forums saying the same things. I would have assumed the 512 was faster as well. My two clues were the 512 DDR2 card was cheaper than the 256 DDR3 and that all the shops were pimping the 256 over the cheaper one.
Since so many forums agree I figured the research was done. I saw a mention on Tom's about it but the link to the tests was dead. |
