This may be a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone out there would be interested in a group class say on a Sunday afternoon where I would
teach you Arabic. My Arabic is pretty good. I spent several years in the Middle East.

You would have to be serious and just get certain books I'd recommend. I wouldn't charge you. You could donate something symbolic or what have you or at least commit to showing up consistently enough. I've tutored Arabic before. I am not really expecting several responses, but I figure I've got nothing to lose.

We would probably need 4-5 people who would be consistent. I don't care if your a soldier or a teacher. I am not doing this to make money or anything. PM if you are interested. I also speak French. I would later want to learn Spanish. The more languages you know, the better.

Thanks...

I would be very interested if this were near my home, but I live in Gwangju. Good luck!

You live in Gwangju as in Jeolla-Namdo? Well, anyway, so far we will hold the meetings in Itaewon, but we could move it somewhere else if another location is more convenient say to the Hongdae area. I will post an ad in Itaewon today to get some people to join. So far, I have one person who has confirmed his interest. I would like to get about 5 or 6 more, so we can have at least 3 who attend regularly.

I know Palestinian and Lebanese Arabic or the general Syrian dialect. I can understand Egyptian, but I can't speak it or fake it. I can also understand Kuwaiti Arabic.

Why do you ask if I plan on learn Turkce? My grandmother spoke Turkish. I am part Turkish, but I have no plans on learning Turkish as of yet. I thought about it. It would make more sense for me to pick up Hebrew rather than an Altaic language. Or, it would make more sense for me to pick up Spanish since I speak French and can understand Spanish basically. Do you speak Turkish?

Just curious, since you talk about languages all the time and have lived in the vicinity for that long. Turkish has some of the most fascinating (=logical) grammar out of any natural language I've encountered so far.

I once tried to teach myself some Turkish, but I never got motivated to learn a lot like when it comes to Spanish or Italian which are close to French. I can just say thank you very much, yes, very beautiful, good, bread, and how are you and stuff like that....

Anyway, we should be meeting on the 29th of June (Sunday) at 4:30 in front of the Paris Baguette. We will go to the meeting place after that which is close by and talk in general. I don't have a book, but I believe a beginner's book can be found at whatthebook.

The plan is for 6:00 p.m. next Sunday. People should confirm, so I can sort of prepare. I have tutored Arabic in the past. It's my second language after English, and I know to teach it to where it would make sense to an English or French speaker.

Hello, I am interested in your Arabic group. Sounds fun and I do need to kill time on the weekends. Are you still meeting on Sunday, 6 pm in front of Paris Baguette in Itaewon? --J
