I've applied to GEPIK. My recruiter has sent me information about the high school where I (tentatively) will be placed.

The recruiter also offered to have the school call me. Has anyone else had this happen? Please comment.

This is a list of questions I will have prepared for whoever calls me from the school. Please suggest changes or additional questions.

- When is the first day you would like me to show up?
- Do you want me to attend an orientation?
- Have you had a foreign teacher before?
- What do you expect of foreign teachers?

I don't know what I'm in for so please provide other tips that come to mind.

Do your co-teachers speak English well? Will you even have co-teachers? Does the school provide any materials specifically for native teachers? What is the average class size? Will the school be insisting on any changes to the standard GEPIK contract? What sort of accomodations will you be provided with? Will the school be assigning someone to help you get your medical, ARC, bank account etc?

If you actually get some kind of coherent answer to this one, perhaps you could post it.

It is nice that the recruiter offered to have them call you, and they probably will do so. A few questions that you may want to ask are:
1. Will you be teaching in a classroom set aside for English or will you move from class to class?
2. What level will you be teaching, first, second, or third? In Korea, this is the equivalent of grades 10, 11, 12 in the West.
3. As them will you have audio-visual equipment and internet connection in the classroom so that you can use online programs when teaching.
4. If they tell you that you will be going from room to room then ask them if you will have a TV to show your presentations, and if there will be internet connection in the classrooms. This is handy for using YOUTUBE and other internet based applications.

Anyways, these are just a few items that will be helpful for you to know ahead of time so you can get a head start on your planning.
