I am going to the KARAMA (Korean govt animal shelter) on Sunday to rescue a one year old female golden retriever. She was going to be put down this week unless someone came to claim or adopt her (the Korean govt recently reduced the waiting period for lost dogs and cats to be put to sleep to 10 days, from 30 days previously).
According to KARAMA she is about 25kg, a little nervous initially but warms up to people pretty quickly. I will be taking her to my vet for a checkup and her immunisation shots and then she will be in foster care in Kangnam. I cannot keep her myself as I have two dogs and two cats already.
You can see her photo at http://karama.or.kr/abandon/big_photo.asp?ImageName=../bbs/data/protect/20080617145806.jpg I will take more photos of her on Sunday.
Anyone who would like to meet her please contact me at [email protected] or my mobile 010 8940 5233
And before anyone posts boring comments about taking her to a dog meat restaurant, please don't - we have heard it a million times here on Dave's so let's try not to be so dull. |

I wish I could help you out timvas, but I'm heading home for a month in about 5-weeks time. She looks lovely and it's a very commendable thing you've done for her and it says a lot about you.
Good luck with finding her a home. |

This might be slightly off topic, but what breed of dog do Koreans eat? Does anyone know?
The title of this thread made me think there might be a mass gathering of foreigners parading into a dog soup restaurant (or its breeding ground) and setting the dogs free. (Might even be up for that.) |

Given the recent changes to the Dave's forums I couldn't post any photos of Ginger (as we have named her) here but you can see some pics of her at the below link to our Animal Rescue Korea website

| I'm so glad you got her out of that place, and I hope she finds a great home. |

According to a friend, who's uncle ran a dog farm, they eat mutts, but won't touch purebreds. |

I have found a great home for Ginger with a really nice American couple who already have a 5 month old Golden named Buddy. Ginger met Buddy yesterday and they get along really well so she will be heading home with them tomorrow for a trial adoption
Thanks so much to everyone who contacted me about Ginger. We do have a number of other rescue dogs looking for foster homes at the moment - you can see them all on our website at http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=7
The most urgent situations at the moment are James Brown the shih tzu, Guidori the 3 legged poodle, Leila the one-eyed shih tzu, the little as yet un-named daschund and Reggie with the limp - all of these dogs are in urgent need of foster or adopted homes and we really don't have anywhere for them to stay at the moment so we're a bit stressed about them (all my local vets are full with customers dogs or our other rescues).
If you think you may be in a position to help and would like more information about any of these dogs please email me at [email protected] or give me a call on 010 8940 5233
Cheers |
