If you're gonna be in the States, use newegg.com instead of TigerDirect. They seem to have lower prices by about $10 - 20 on video cards and other components.

Especially if you mail in the rebate form. Newegg is much better.
CL, if you're buying in the States then you'd be mad to not get an HD4870 for $300 or less. That card rivals or beats the GTX260 and even matches the GTX280 in some games. |

| Does anybody know if these big name computer discount sites (i.e. newegg and tigerdirect, etc) ship to Korea? If so, is it worth it to buy something with the shipping charges? |

I'm pretty sure TigerDirect does. You would have to check it out and see if its areally a vaue or not, with the cost of the product+shipping vs local pricing. |

NewEgg does NOT ship outside NA and TigerDirect does, but you have to pay by wire transfer, not credit card or anything else. Not sure what the shipping charges are, but add them onto the customs fee and it's probably not worth it.
Best bet is to buy it, ship it to someone back home, and have them re-package it and ship it to you as a gift.

I was just curious because cubanlord posted a link where he could get a 9800GTX for $200 at tigerdirect. The friggin' things are going for 350K++ here in Korea.
But personally, I think I'm going to wait for the 4850 to dip below 200K. That's the sweet spot for me.
It's only a few FPS slower than the 4870, gives the GTX a run for it's money...and it can be had for a reasonable price in Korea. |

Agreed. This is how I usually do things. I buy them, ship them to my sister, she just takes the box and places it in a bigger cardboard box, adds extra packaging materials and ships it off to me here. THat is how I built this computer. I had the core 2 duo, 7900GTX and the intel motherboard 975xbx all shipped to her then she shipped them to me(and the ocz memory).
But, I willb e going back in August, so, I will do a little shopping. hehe. |

lol, who the hell would want to view this thread so much that it would yield 1045 views? Anyways Demo, I am taking your advice. I am selling my current monitor in a complete system package so that I can buy a 22" widescreen. |

| The MBC translation thread is only on page 3 and has 1800 views. One thousand is hardly surprising for a 5 pager. |

Well, I am comparing ATI and Geforce. The 4870 has GDDR5 memory on it while the 9800GTX has GDDR3. However, the 9800GTX is about 200 while the 4870 is still at 300. Thoughts? I mean, that's an extra 100 bucks.
Also, wow, the gtx280 only has GDDR3???? |
