I just discovered this last week.
If you can type in Korean (or know someone who will do it for you), go to www.daum.net and click on 지도. You will see a tab with NEW above it. That tab says 교통.
You need to input your starting address in the left-hand box, click on the little magnifying glass next to it, input your destination address in the right-hand box, click on the little magnifying glass next to it, and finally click on the button below the addresses.
You then get to choose which information you want:
- Driving (walking) directions, complete with turn directions and distances.
- Bus route, including transfer points, and fare amounts.
- Subway route, including transfer points, and fare amounts.
- Bus and subway combination, including transfer points and fare amounts.
For the address input, you can even use the new Western-style addresses!
Go ahead, experiment with it. Click on the different tabs. Enjoy no longer wondering where the heck everything is! |

I just got off my lazy tush and checked the naver site. They have a directions function but it's nowhere near as good as the daum site. Naver doesn't recognize the new addresses.
Edited to Add: I just remembered why I quit visiting naver sites. THE PORTAL ROTS! Every time, including just this morning, I visit the lousy portal, it crashes either my browser or my computer.

No chance there's an English version, I suppose. It seems to be giving me some sort of error, but my Korean sucks so I don't know what it wants. |

JustJohn: Send me a PM with the info you're trying to get and I'll do the legwork on the daum site for you. |

Offer much appreciated but I don't have anything I want to do right now, I'd just like to be able to use it in the future. Guess it's just more incentive to learn Korean. |
