|

Could someone please quote me chapter and verse so there is NO misunderstanding regarding legal requirments for an E2? I am being told in order to get a re-newed ID card at my new job, after working here 7 years, I must get a blood (AIDS) test. Problem is I've not yet seen any law that says I absolutely have to do this.
It seems to be at the discretion of the immigration official behind the desk. So what is the last word on this? To stay I need the test or can I tell the pudgy-pencil pusher sitting on his fat butt behind the desk to stop smiling and screw off? |

Why not just do it and satisfy immigration and your own piece of mind. |

Yeah seriously, in all fairness they're free and it's sorta a good thing to get checked up on.
Or have you not been banging anyone in those 7 years?
I had to go through all the BS for my renewal yesterday, AIDS test free and the rest was 50,000 won. Took about an hour in total, though I will say that the second person to take my blood had some trouble doing so for some reason

| Yes, It is definitely required. That is one of the things which must be included and reported on if you want to get your ARC. You also must do a drug test (which does not have to include cannibas test). Other things usually included in a physical exam like blood pressure are usually done as well. |

Indeed. I don't see the big deal.
Most people get tested regularly anyway these days. |

Icicle and Ut, thank you for your input. The information was helpful.
If the govt. wants a piece of my body they will require legal justification. There is nothing fair in the govt. requiring part of my body for a job, nor is there anything I have to worry about regarding my physical health.
The links above provide information about this and the other comments do not.
Thanks again for the help. |

Many jobs back home also have blood testing although that's usually for drugs.
Bottom line. A government employer can request such tests and if you don't wish to submit to such tests, then you will have to find another job. They are not obliged to give you a job if you refuse to meet their criteria. Nor do they require legal justification of any kind...those are their standards for getting hired. |

Why not? Private companies back home do it all the time. And not only to GET the job, but regular but random checks throughout their employment to KEEP the job. |

Well Asiablue do you want the job or not. It is that easy. It is what the goverment wants it is up to you to do if you want. If not - go back home.
Ya it sucks to not be trusted after seven years. Welcome to the oxymoronic logic of government and bureaucracy. |
