The effort is there...

Our best players need to be our best players...

We need to focus...

If we start pitching, we'll be fine...

We got to put the puck in the net,,

As a seasoned bench warmer I have heard many but since I never played I never really listened to any of those douche bags.

I heard "were saving the best for last" alot which correlates to once we have a nice lead over the other team to the point they cannot catch up we will put you in. I never cheered for my team, I always hoped they lose so I could laugh at all of them for trying so hard. The only reason I played is my mom forced me to and b/c she would always take me to dinner and ice cream after a game b/c she felt bad for me. Of course when I got older I would just skip practice all together and go smoke smoke my cigarettes, go drink beer and hang out at the beach with my friends. This probably explains why I can't run a quarter mile without hyperventalating as most of those vices are still with me today.

BTW, I always hated "there is no I in team".

full credit to the opposition...

we dug deep...

it's a game of two halves...

do the basics right...

focus on the fundamentals...

the better team won on the night...

we came up trumps...

we came up short...

we did ourselves proud...

we let ourselves down...

the team who wants it the most will win... (bullcrap)

we were outpassioned... (is that even a word)

pain is just weakness leaving the body... (fave training cliche)

and in rugby anyway. using 'the boys' pretty much as a personal pronoun.

"the boys did good"

"they came at the boys hard" (hehe)

"the boys are rapt", etc, etc

Is "I would like to thank Jesus for all his support" a cliche? Wink

"....the lads gave 110% today."

"If we play like that every week, then we wouldn't be so inconsistent."

Just watch Andy Townsend, Alan Hansen, Robbie Earle, Jamie Redknapp, Mark Lawrenson, et al on the BBC/ITV and you'll just pick up tons of crap.

i'm as sick as a parrot...

it's a game of two halves...

we deserved to get something out of that...

at the end of the day...

there are no easy games at this level...

we had the better chances, but couldn't finish it...

- Let's be honest here, we just suck.

Ok not a cliche. No pro athlete would ever be so frank.

No matter what the result: The winner at the end of the day is Rugby.

Bullshit. It's a competitive contact sport. If the other team doesn't suck, you should play so fierce that they get intimidated into sucking!
