| Anyone have any experience with these? I'm back in the US on vacation and am considering picking one up. Especially one of the snazzy SSD ones. |

Yes I have the first one and if I was to do it over again I would definitely get the one with the larger screen as big a hard disk you can afford.
It is incredibly handy because its so light and portable. I use it as my instant movie reference guide when I'm watching DVDs on the big screens I'm also impressed with the number of hacks and mods made to this little computer, showing us what we can really do with a cheap computer.
Check out eeeuser.com for all the details including OS installation and hacks.
I'm looking at the new batteries now, over 5 hours without wifi and with the 6600mAh batteries (and that's on the 901 with the bigger screen than mine). |

I've just ordered an EEE PC 901 (with Atom CPU). Should be coming in the mail soon.
I got the XP version with the smaller SSD since the Linux version is still not available here. |

| Those things are either a big PMP or a small, weak laptop. If you're in the market for either of these, then go for it. |

Exactly, I really don't see the point of getting one of these over a 10 - 12 inch laptop. |

Personally, I got it because it is much smaller and lighter than a 12 inch laptop, and I can throw it in my bag and never have to plug it in except when I get back home at night, since it has a 6 hour + battery life. I also got it because there's a solid state drive, so I can shake it around or whatever and I don't risk losing anything. All I really do is blog, email, forum post, or read sites and that's not as good on a Palm. Additionally, I only wanted one thing for the next year. If I just had a Palm, I would lose out on updating my blog and stuff while I'm in Korea unless I went to internet cafes. I'm also in university and would like to occasionally take notes. This will be a journal and notebook for me as well, since I do a lot of writing.
I will report back my feelings about it when it arrives this week though. |

| The problem is that the EEE's keyboard isn't very comfortable (and I don't have large hands though). |

There's a certain critical mass involved with laptops: On the subway I see people with the little Kohjinsha's or similar and it's fairly easy to balance them on your lap. But a 12 inch laptop? Not easy.
And then you have the price factor as well. A subnotebook can cost you 1 million won easily. A netbook costs about half that or even less. |

For blogging or typing for extended period of time, it is a bit small. Which is why the MSI Wind may be better here, unfortunately the Wind doesn't have the same battery power as the Asus but I heard that bigger capacity batteries will come out later this year.
I used the Asus for about a month before it was handed over to someone who only plays Bejeweled on it. |

where do you think the best place to buy one of these retro-future devices might be?
The market? Online? Maybe Hi-mart... but who knows? |

| Yongsan or Danawa.co.kr if you can handle the ordering. Or you could print out a list of prices from Danawa and take it to Yongsan and get them to match. |
