Has anyone had any experience with any good recruiters?
Anyone heard of Neo Recruiting, FT Union, Spyders, ATC, eslBusan?

FT Union screwed me over. I'd stay away from them, especially a girl named Stephanie. She promised me a job, I sent my degree over, got passport pictures done for my visa, sent over my transcript and a copy of the info pages of my passport, and gave my employer here in Canada two weeks notice. She never got back to me and my degree is still somewhere in Korea.

Its a honest mistake, but don't give anyone your degree, even if you have notarized copies. Your recuriter and employers need to know that you've got posture and you won't be messed with.

The best recruiter is no recruiter. If you can, find your own job. I know, it's hard right now.

If you do use a recruiter, it's important to understand the relationship between you and the recruiter. The schools pay the recruiter, so they are the customers. You're not paying them, so your needs/wants/happiness don't matter to them. You're the commodity.

If you do use a recruiter, try to take them out of the equation as much as possible. Talk to the school owner, the director, and the teachers as much as you can. I've talked to a number of recruiters on my current job search, and most of them have misrepresented, or left out, important details.

If you do your homework, you should be fine.

Good luck.

Fully agreed that no recruiter is the best recruiter.

However, if you insist on using one, I'd recommend TKRS (http://tkrs.ca/)

It's a service solely for Canadians, a guy from Kingston who lives in Ulsan.

Good luck!

Hey Jennifier.

How is that Stephanie has stolen your degree but you've gone on and on in many threads about how you're on your way over, all to different schools from different recruiters, yet during your posts updating us of your adventures in coming over you've not once mentioned FT Union. This despite you now telling us that you had quit your job and were two weeks away from coming over, but now you announce two months in advance that you are coming over. Contradiction.

Plus you've claiming to be a Canadian female from the economically depressed part of Canada. You're a walking goldmine as you are unlikely to run home due to rampant unemployment and bad weather while at the same time the wages are much higher here, all while you have a desirable accent and you're female. Why would she possibly want to screw you over? She could charge extra for you.

Then add to these contractions the logic of keeping your diploma. She's licenced from the government and if she did pull such a stunt she could possibly lose her licence.

Your story doesn't make any sense.

Conclusion: If I had to place a wager, I would wager that you're another recruiter. You trash talk when you can, then seek out information on schools and other recruiters to scout them out. I'm not saying my wager is true, I'm simply saying it makes a hell of a lot more sense than what you're saying now.

In conclusion, it was the best Christmas ever and Stephanie is really quite nice. I have turned down thousands of dollars for advertisements on my site, yet I mention her to show my gratitude for all she has done for me and people I know.

I second Gord on that. FT Union is a great company and Stephanie and all the people who work there are some of the nicest folks you'd ever meet. They invite their recruits to their personal parties and treat them like family.

They went way out of their way to help me with my last nightmare of a situation, way more than I would have expected from anyone in Korea. They'll negotiate a good contract and help you if there is a problem.

They are proud of their reputation and their recruiting license from the government, as they should be.

Let me clarify, firstly I'm not a recruiter. I'm a 24 year old female from Moncton, New Brunswick who has never been out of North America, not exactly recruiter material if you ask me but that's besides the point. Secondly, I was going to use FT Union and was well on my way to going over but after sending my degree over to get a letter of invitation, never heard from Stephanie again. Thirdly, I did give my two weeks notice not because I was leaving in two weeks but because I thought I had a job in January and wanted time after these two weeks of working retail was finished to spend with my friends and to do stuff like packing, visiting, etc. Fourthly, I have been doing tons of research and have gotten tons of job offers from different schools because of this site and was asking questions about the ones that offered me the best jobs. Two haven't worked out so far, the one with FT Union and the one in Ansyang. Just because I sent my degree over to them, which was needed to get a letter of invitation so I can get my E2 visa, doesn't mean I didn't get another one from my university for a mere $30 which I have in my possession as we speak (type?). SO, in conclusion, Gord, just because your precious Stephanie didn't screw you over, doesn't mean she is God incarnate and has never done anything wrong in her entire recruiting life. Every instance is different. I'm not even saying she's a bad recruiter, just that somewhere in Korea is my degree at a school that went through her and never got back from me. Get your panties out of a knot and breathe.

Hey there Lookingtoteach....I love your rebuttle to Gord....He's weird. I mean, did you see his website???? 'Nuff said...
Afterall, this is a discussion board. Heaven forbid you write something that the all bleeping mighty Gord doesn't like....HA! He basically tried to crucify me for asking about taxes etc. Well I did my research and wanted to hear some peoples' experiences. Gord should open up his own discussion board and stop pretending to be the ruler of this one....Beat it Gord!

What rebuttle? It's a series of contradictions. How are we expected to know the truth when a person can't even present a non-contradictory claim as to what happened.

Plus I spoke to Stephanie about this, and she doesn't know anything about it. Since it's in her financial interest to get the paperwork and line people up with jobs, it doesn't make sense she wouldn't do that. Much like Jennifer's story, it's rather hard to prove in an online forum. But unlike Jennifer's story that makes no sense and is contradictory, mine is logical and clean.

It's not like Stephanie is a hard person to reach. Since everyone else can just call her, why can't our beloved Jennifer do that instead of suddenly remembering that she was dealing with Stephanie and was about to come over for a job that she completely forgot about when she was posting about her coming to Korea in the forum?

As for crucifying you, I did no so such thing. I simply noted that you were claiming to have done an exhaustive search for tax information, yet managed to overlook how the it's in the FAQ that's linked to in every single forum.

And you think I'm weird? Well, ok. I'll write that down in my Christmas cards. Anything else about me that you know nothing about that you wish to pass judgement on?

I never claimed to be a ruler of this forum. I just dislike coming across threads where people post up messages saying "I looked high and low for tax info" when it's hard to believe that they did.

Should I start my own discussion forum? Sure, why not. Sounds like a fine idea. If I do that, can I give you credit for giving me the idea?

P.S. your gift is wrapped and is under the tree. Don't forget to pick it up when you arrive at the airport. I also saved the receipt in case you didn't like it. Punch and pie will also be waiting, as it is the season for sharing.

2CuteNCanadian - want, want, want. Only giving to insult. I suggest that you go to Europe. Ibiza, maybe? Lots of fun to be had there.
