Just interested...do you believe that you match the traits of your sign?
They seem so mainstream, being found in so many newspapers and magazines around the globe - there must be something to it, right? |

Well statistically the odds are high! Most people actually share common traits with their star signs...
What! you have absolutely nothing at all with what your star sign suggests for your character???

I'm a Capricorn. Supposed to be kind of boring and conservative and money-hungry. Guess it's kind of true for me. |

I'm a Gemini.
There's some truth to all of this, I would say. The time of year you're born would definitley be a big contribution to your characteristics. |

Whose more likely to be write, the Babylonians or Carl Sagan? Babylonian astrologers spent there lives studying the stars and studying the effect of stars on the people in they're civilization. Carl Sagan said the doctor standing next to your mother at you're birth had a greater gravitational effect on you. I say, "Phooey on Carl Sagan!" |

The trap would be if you purposely fall in with people of your same or supposedly compatible sign. There are plenty of nasty Sagittarians, or plenty of sags who haven't begun to think, Ann Coulter for example. If she thought a little more she wouldn't have embarked on espousing a dogma with a foundation built on lies. Abraham Lincoln, the supposed humanist Aquarian is shown to be a greedy warmonger. Heck, so was Napoleon, and so is Cheney. Robert E Lee (Capricorn) was more humanist.
If you really want to understand the ultimate reasons why people do things the way they do, look into their family background and the way they were brought up. That is far more telling about a person.
There may be some truth that people do have certain affectations, such as Librans being romantic what with having Venus rule their sign, yet, what type of romantic - enjoying love at home with hubby, or enjoying love with every Tom, Dick, and Gonzales?
People are unique, as act as differently as Scorpios Charlie Manson and Neil Young, both born on the same day (my daughter sharing that same numerical birthday.)
One may never be able to change the mind of a Taurus, yet, that could be a good thing or not, depending on the basis of the thought.
Put it this way, while there may be some truth in it or you find some truth in it, astrology shouldn't be used as a yardstick to choose people to be your friends. When choosing a partner, having a 'compatible' sign may make you feel better about longevity of your relationship, but if you are both not determined in your mind to make a relationship work, or if you have different ideas of 'the way things should be' in your lives, it won't matter how astrologically compatible you are.
Although, I do have a 'compatible' Gemini wife. Yet, we come from very similar eco-social backgrounds, we both like white picket fences, and are approximate in bio-age. And, we made a pact in a church. That could be as good a reason as any as to why it is successful.
I'm a Sagittarian / Monkey.
ooh ooh ah ah.

I agree that some of the traits given for my astrological sign are present in me. So are some of the traits from any of the other astrological signs. Some of the characteristics given for my blood type match my personality, while some of the characteristics for other blood types match my personality.
From wikipedia on astrology:
Quote: |
Astrology has repeatedly failed to demonstrate its effectiveness in numerous controlled studies.[10][11] Effect size studies in astrology conclude that the mean accuracy of astrological predictions is no greater than what is expected by chance, and astrology's perceived performance has disappeared on critical inspection.[54] When testing for cognitive, behavioral, physical and other variables, one study of astrological "time twins" showed that human characteristics are not molded by the influence of the Sun, Moon and planets at the time of birth.[54][55] Skeptics of astrology also suggest that the perceived accuracy of astrological interpretations and descriptions of one's personality can be accounted for by the fact that people tend to exaggerate positive 'hits' and overlook whatever does not fit, especially when vague language is used.[54] They also argue that statistical research is often wrongly seen as evidence for astrology due to uncontrolled artifacts.[56] A large-scale study, with a sample size of about 15,000 "astro-twins", was published in 2006. It examined the relationship between date of birth and individual differences in personality and general intelligence, and found no evidence that a connection existed.[57] It also found no relationship between the zodiacal signs and participants' personal traits.[57] |

I am Pisces and I read my horoscope in the paper every weekend.
My horoscope in the paper today said that I would come into good fortune and that I should be patient that changes will happen and to accept these changes.... I didn't read the rest as I am not patient enough. hehe Luckily I was out to breakfast with my mom so she paid for it, thats good fortune right??? |

Your July Forecast: You can't judge a book by looking at its cover and you can't always judge a month by its first few days. July, for you, won't really get into its stride for another couple of weeks or so. It is then that Venus will enter Leo and a real sense of magical possibility will present itself. That's when your popularity will begin to increase and your level of prosperity will improve, too. What good is a zodiac forecast, though, if it can't help you take a look into the future? Never mind what's happening right now. Forget the fear and frustration you feel. Have faith in the picture I have just painted. It is accurate. |
I habitually read my stars, instantly glaze over, then get on with life. |
